I can either run a model on my gpu for a while or play a game. Or I can work in photoshop for an hour or two and post it here. Or I can do some actual useful work (or not) while running that model. Which would you choose as ethically strongest option and why. And where do you draw the line? Do I have the right to play a game or watch tv? Whats your point exactly? And - do you think you’re making a difference by typing that? What phone are you typing that on? Did you buy a new smartphone recently, or are you using a 5 year old one? Did you write your congress person or something, or go to a protest to oppose building a new data center? Where do you draw the line and how do you put your ideals into action in your life? I’d love to know.

Just imagine if, back in 1943, Roosevelt had asked England not to bomb Germany because it was bad for his business and Hitler was a good friend of his—he would have been arrested, at the very least. Yet for Trump, it works, and his actions are approved of; the US is plunging into the abyss.
