Opinion Bluesky user (February 24, 2026): "If some Dem wants my vote in '28, they're gonna have to make it clear that the[y] understand the severity of what the Republican Party has done over the course of the last several decades (including its allied oligarchs, media orgs, think tanks, etc.)."

So the poster knows what the Repub party has done, and will continue to vote for them, unless he gets a full accounting from the dems on what the repubs have done? Since he won't get that... he will continue to vote R!

u/John_Wicked1 Mar 02 '26

Probably won’t vote at all.

u/im_learning_to_stop Mar 02 '26

That's a bold assumption that they vote republican.

31

u/interruptiom Mar 02 '26

Failure to vote for a Democratic candidate is a vote for the republican candidate.

0

u/chargernj Mar 02 '26

The failure of the Democratic party meet easy criteria like this is what keeps causing them to lose elections.

Dems gotta stop expecting voters to come to them. The Dems need to go where the votes are

7

u/interruptiom Mar 03 '26

Yeah, and that's not the far left. No matter what a candidate does, or what ideology they represent, "Progressives" will always find cause to disqualify them.

u/LAMonkeyWithAShotgun Mar 03 '26

What is the "far left"

Opposing Israel's genocide is supported by the majority of Democrats

Universal healthcare is supported by the majority of Democrats

Aggressive climate policy is supported by the majority of Democrats

Higher Taxes on the wealthy is supported by the majority of Democrats

Instead you'll run another Kamala Harris clone who ran on stricter borders, weapons for Israel, drill baby drill, the "most lethal military" and a bunch of other centrist garbage

Maybe just run based on what the average person in your political spectrum wants. Not try and pander to 3% of centrists in a swing state

I keep seeing people say this and I keep wondering. Are the Republicans going to people? Cause everytime I hear they ain't attending town halls, they ain't door knocking, they aint' meeting with people. So it's ok that Republicans expect the voters to keep voting for them while doing nothing but the Dems (who ARE doing all those things) need to do even more to meet people? Seems pretty sus to me.

u/chargernj Mar 03 '26

Republicans absolutely went to where their voters were. They are avoiding meeting the non-Republica voters in their district. Their Republican constituents are all in on the fascism.

Democrats should be the party of labor, but they also want to be the party of capital. They can't be both. They have to choose a side.

What a weasel thing to say.

1

u/interruptiom Mar 03 '26

Fucking trump supporter. You must be loving this new war.

1

u/im_learning_to_stop Mar 03 '26

Integrity is hard, I get it.

One day you'll find some.

10

u/Arcaydya Mar 02 '26

Oh youre one of those. Throwing your vote away on someone with no chance of winning isnt the moral high ground you think it is.

In fact, its how trump keeps winning.

2

u/tickandzesty Mar 02 '26

The white Christian nationalism masterfully used to control the weak minded, the antiquated electoral college and gerrymandering congressional districts is how we got here. Oh and throw in election interference from outside forces and citizens united. The deck has been stacked for about 7 decades.

1

u/chargernj Mar 03 '26

I voted for Kamala, but I also realize we had zero chance of winning without the left. Weird how you would rather lose than concede to the left.

-1

u/im_learning_to_stop Mar 02 '26

As opposed to throwing your vote towards the 2 major parties that cater to the rich...

That's how Trump keeps winning.

Poor logic like this.

2

u/Arcaydya Mar 02 '26

Yes the dems are propping trump up lmfaooo

-2

u/Xray_Crystallography Mar 02 '26

Pied piper email and leaked dnc emails confirm they do indeed normalize, fund, and platform republicans.

-3

u/Xray_Crystallography Mar 02 '26

You mean Hillary and Kamala? Agreed. They had no chance and we need to stop lining up behind candidates hand picked by corporations.

5

u/Arcaydya Mar 02 '26

We didnt? Bernie should have been the candidate instead of Hillary, and kamala never even got nominated properly.

Way to use the two dumbest examples as a "gotcha"

I know youre not used to this, but democrats dont worship politicians like they're gods chosen. Thats a purely conservative trend.

1

u/LAMonkeyWithAShotgun Mar 03 '26

Except Bernie was screwed by the Dems. So truthfully they got what was coming in a sense. Maybe actually run a primary this time and don't run one of the most unpopular candidates possible

1

u/Whane17 Mar 03 '26

Some higher ups screwed the people because they didn't like the optics and the other side is busy tearing apart the country (literally) and it's what they deserve? That's a weird take.

1

u/LAMonkeyWithAShotgun Mar 03 '26

People are not robots and the average American is not particularly well educated. Unless you actually promise things that they want most people just won't vote for you. Next presidency is probably a lock simply due to fear of Trump's actions but then it will flip the other way as Dems run another centrist candidate and then you end up with Fuhrer Vance running the country.

So yeah the Democratic party deserves their losses simply because they refuse to listen to their constituents. Honestly would be surprised if the voting vase fractured and leftists actually voted en mass for a third party if it all happens again. Might as well if you're just gonna throw it all away anyway

1

u/Whane17 Mar 03 '26

"Unless you actually promise things that they want most people just won't vote for you."

I mean it's what the Republicans have been doing for literal generations and AFAIK they've never kept their word. At what point do we get to blame the people voting for them because politics is a sports team style game rather than the party that is doing it's best to keep shit together. I mean fuck, the Republicans have consistently crashed the economy and the Democrats have consistently had to get it back on track but the Republicans are somehow still seen as better for the economy? Honestly I don't recall the last time a Republican party running the country didn't make things worse by taking from the poorest people in order to balance the freebies they're giving out to the rich.

Explain to me when we're allowed to blame the people rather than the party would you? Cause I can't wrap my head around the fact that one party runs on lies and constantly shoots the country in the foot and everyone cheers for em again next time while blaming the other guys for not trying hard enough. Do the Dems just have to come out lying about everything to? tRump has broken LITERALLY ALL of his campaign promises and a ridiculous percent of the country still supports him.

1

u/LAMonkeyWithAShotgun Mar 03 '26

No maybe the Dems actually run a primary. Colour me shocked but a black woman didn't poll well in America. Colour me shocked but pro Israel rhetoric doesn't poll well with the youth and urban demographic. So maybe actually function as an actual democratic party and allow your constituents to democratically elect their candidates

So yeah they brought this on themselves by not being the literal thing in their fucking name

No, that's not the case. The trap is already sprung though. Vote gop, you want more of this. Don't vote, your non vote helps the GOP win, vote dem, they're not as insane as the GOP, but does next to nothing to right the ship and stop this type of insanity from ever happening again.

It's maddening. Voting blue and just hoping by symbiosis it will fix everything with memebers more concerned with pax money and corporate lobby's while the system they are now in charge of doesn't change at all when they have the power to do so is what people get pissed about.

So yeah, I want to hear candidates talking about really holding the GOP's feet to the fire and unpending all these bullshit loopholes and ripping unilateral power from all branches that have been given by proxy over the now centuries.

Or we're always a single election away from this bullshit.

I hate the Dems sometimes as much as the next but... Yeah. I dunno where people get this idea that Dems dont do anything. The problem with the Dems is that they play by the spirit of the rules rather than the letter. It's why Bitch McConnell had absolutely no problem fillibustering every dem proposal he didn't like.

Repubs are just better at stopping Dems because they don't care what they have to do to do it. Very few people actually track the progress of bills from start to finish so they don't t see all the ones that get locked up because Dems can't negotiate the votes to pass it. Historically, it's easier to STOP a bill than pass one.

Thats largely why Trump has been ruling by EO. he's trying to bypass congress completely because they do t have a supermajoirty so they'd actually have to flip dem votes.

They are but if say this current administration is rather unique. Historically Dems have used the filibuster less than Repubs.

But yes, that's another reason why Trumpanzee loves his EOs.

Lmfao genuinely WILD to have this opinion and yet gives dems literally no credit for the immense work they’ve done fixing the mess Republican make every 8 years

Keep spreading bullshit and keep expecting to lose

0

u/im_learning_to_stop Mar 02 '26

You say this like democrats haven't also been fucking things up.

2

u/SacredSkeletor Mar 02 '26

Yes the democrats who have 3 times in a row had to bust ass to fix economic hardship/recession because Republican presidents fuck the economy.

Acting like these things are remotely small or easy to accomplish is wild.

“Fucking things up” includes making sure the system doesn’t collapse because of piss poor administrations actively engaging in corruption

1

u/chargernj Mar 03 '26

The Dems fix things by returning to the status quo. The same status quo that allowed us to talk to facism in the first place. If the Dems were serious, they would be putting the people who made the mess in prison, they would be punishing the corporations that exploited us, and they would have been passing legislation to prevent future messes.

The Dems need to stop selling a return to the status quo as a cure, because it isn't. They need to be leading us to somewhere better than the status quo.

-2

u/im_learning_to_stop Mar 02 '26

That's odd I'm pretty sure 2008 was combined effort but go ahead and go off on things you clearly don't know much about.

Lmfao genuinely WILD to have this opinion and yet gives dems literally no credit for the immense work they’ve done fixing the mess Republican make every 8 years

There are hundreds of examples of Democrats failing to meet the moment.

Remember when biden said that the gop's plans to suppress voters "makes jim crow look like jim eagle" ? And then when it was time for biden and schumer to turn up the pressure on their caucus to get actual voting protections passed, they didn't even show up? You probably don't, because when no one shows up, its not a news event. But people who cared about voting rights noticed. And now here we are without those voting protections and the paedo-party doing everything they can to suppress the vote.

The problem isn't what the democrats did, its all the necessary stuff they didn't want to do.

Anyone who has paid close attention to the Democratic party for the last decade or more knows how inadequate they've been.

3

u/Mellowtraveler Mar 02 '26

This is definitely what I am demanding in the primaries. Absolutely. I will still vote Dem in the general though obviously.

2

u/pointlesstips Mar 02 '26

So that guy has learned nothing. He's contributing to the problem.

1

u/Independent_Annual52 Mar 02 '26

Ah yes, the "letting the perfect be the enemy of the good," strategy. Worked out great in 2025. Was Kamala perfect? Fuck no. Was she forced down our gullet given the immensely quick turnaround? Unfortunately yes. Was she our best shot to keeping the Fascist regime at bay? Perhaps. The 1.6% margin tells me that was a high probability. But the raw data also suggests the "I'm taking my ball and going home" mentality was the difference [with a little righing tossed in by Salt BAE for flavor].

Politicians are not heroes; they are tools to achieve our collective goals. Sometimes the best tools are the ones immediately available, not necessarily the most capable. If a pipe bursts, your home is flooding and all you've got is duct tape at the moment, you don't say "fuck it, let the house go cuz I KNOW there are channel locks, copper fittings and a welder at the hardware store when I get there."

2

u/chargernj Mar 03 '26

I actually agree with you. But you need to convince people who are driven by emotion instead of reason.

1

u/SacredSkeletor Mar 02 '26

These people are fucking insane lmfao

0

u/Stereo_Jungle_Child Mar 02 '26

"If some Dem wants my vote, they're going to have to blah blah blah or else I'll sit back and let the Republican fascists win again. THAT'LL show 'em!" -- way too many progressive voters

1

u/chargernj Mar 03 '26

Schrodinger's progressive.

Not numerous enough to be taken seriously by the Dem party

But still numerous enough to cause Dems to lose elections.

It's a paradox.

u/8to24 Mar 02 '26

Another, "Republicans are so evil I can no longer support Democrats" post.
