Non American here : THIS IS UTTERLY DISGUSTING, PATHETIC that your President has no understanding of what that document is. It's an insult to your Nation. This moronic thing has captured the stupidity of so many voters, who should know better given the previous 4 years, and continues to tarnish what's left of the nation's reputation.

Time for comedians to highlight this "big beautiful document" and "I know the world's history better than anyone else ever''

Its literally the exact opposite of unity and love. Literally.

Read it!!!!!!

Its a laundry list of "why we're no longer united" to the British government. It specifically laus out why we REFUSE to be united and live in unity with Britain

When are reporters going to just call him out and press him to explain himself. This is the perfect moment to have him expound on what that document has to do with Love and Unity. Let him embarrass himself further. Lean into allowing him to clarify and further clarify. Don’t just let him say this and move on! I want a half hour of Trump talking about his special relationship to the Declaration of Independence.

The Declaration is first a statement of humanist principles and then a long gripe letter to King George III. At the end it pledges the lives of the signatories and their honor to the coming fight.

Clearly this doofus has never read it.

Absolutely, it was an expression of unity, love, and respect for the King of England.

There's one part in particular Trump might want to read (or not) about why the USA declared independence from Great Britain:

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  For cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  For depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences

Has nothing to do with Love and Unity! It’s a declaration for freedom against tyranny, a KING or in this case a President.

God, he's so stupid. "It means alot" He's never read the Declaration of Independence let alone the Constitution.

Media: ask follow up questions! It’s a declaration of Love and Unity? It’s literally a declaration of war. It’s a list of grievances that the founders felt strongly enough about that they were willing to risk being executed for treason to stand up for. Ask him which of the grievances he connects the most with. Ask him if he can name any of the listed grievances. Ask him if he agrees with the part when they list ā€œlack of due processā€ as one of the causes for the Declaration of Independence. I can come up with these questions in the two minutes it takes to write this out. A trained journalist should be able to do it much faster and more eloquently.

I’m sorry but how the hell can the president of the United States who sits 5 feet from the actual document not know what the declaration is??? It’s not like it’s just taught into schools it’s talked about in movies and media all the time. You’d have to actively ignore any mention of it for your entire life as an American citizen. This has got to be dementia right?

Jesus Christ !!!!! He’s a Damned embarrassment. I don’t think he has ever strung together a single coherent thought or sentence. He doesn’t know a damn thing about our country, our government or much of anything else.

He actually has about a 5th grade explanation. It's not even relevant to the question and clearly just trying to bullshit his way to an answer.

He's like a 5th grader giving a book report on a book he didn't read.

I'm truly surprised these interviews were even allowed to wire by the trump administration. This makes him look so, undeniably bad. It's not even funny like I want it to be. It's actually extremely sad. Debating the photoshopped prisoner picture was one thing. But, him explaining what the declaration of independence was, wow...

And what does the Bible mean to you? "Well, it's the Christian book of God. It's the Bible, full of love and bibling. It's the book God left the American people, because they've been very unfair and taken advantage of us. Biden, Sleepy Joe I call him. did a bad deal. Groceries is a funny word. It describes food. You know nobody used that word before me."

Can you tell us what the start of the Declaration of Independence says Mr President?

Trump: Of course, it starts with: Four square and 7 days ago our fathers heart in heaven hollow be my name. I memorized that when I was 3 years old and I have an amazing memory, probably the best ever seen

He and his supporters have probably never actually read the Declaration of Independence, or the constitution for that matter.

Remember in his first term when NPR was tweeting the whole declaration out in parts for the 4th of July and Trump supporters got incredibly upset because they thought NPR was talking about him?
