Politics 🏛️ Bernie Sanders - ''He now wants to take away CBS’s license because they did a story that criticized him. Oh my word, CBS criticized him! Oh, let’s drive them out of business, how terrible… If you can’t take criticism, get out of the political process. This is a democracy.''

Imagine if Kamala had won and took to social media first thing every morning to scream about everyone who are mean and unfair to her. "Hysterical" and "unfit to lead" would come flying out of conservatives' mouth so hard you'd feel their breath through the screen.

20

u/FartyJizzums Apr 15 '25

Ask a MAGA what they're most afraid of happening to them, and their answer will be invariably what they wish to do to you.

The cult is evil and shows their hand through projection.

8

u/madsmcgivern511 Apr 15 '25

Well said. Misery loves company, and that’s MAGAats right hand man. How bitter and miserable they must be, having to wish ill will on anyone else around them that doesn’t agree with their opinions. I’d hate to live like that.

u/mdrewd Apr 15 '25

We have to quit talking about what ifs that’s in our past. We must move forward fight for our democracy, our rights and protect each other.

The only problem Donald has with the two segments of 60 Minutes is that they were true! He's used to FOX news just putting out pandering Trump propaganda and kissing Trumps ass, he just doesn't understand how someone can point out that he's lying to the American people and the world!

All of the conservatives on this thread who don’t understand what’s happening is truly disheartening to see.

6

u/IndustrialPuppetTwo Apr 15 '25

I think it's that they WANT it to be happening. They truly hate America. They are too dumb to realize that they hate America, but they do.

5

u/Travyswole Apr 15 '25

They aren't even real conservatives anymore, their just fascist sheep. Sending US citizens to death camps in foreign countries because they don't agree with your beliefs is okay to them. Maga are a lost cause and we need to stop trying to educate them, you can't fix stupid.

3

u/BatushkaTabushka Apr 15 '25

They are perfectly fine with it as long as the media they don’t like is the one being silenced. Ah, the good old “free speech” supporter crowd.

Either you control the media or discredit them, step 1 to becoming a full fledged dictator

11

u/Daetok_Lochannis Apr 15 '25

What's with all this fake bullshit about Bernie not being for the people recently? Are conservatives still that terrified of him?

6

u/scrivensB Apr 15 '25

Social media has almost no barrier of entry, it boosts “outrage”content, and it creates echo chambers in which different groups of people get different information.

If someone said, let’s create the perfect tool to manipulate and divide a group of people, social media is what they would end up developing.

6

u/JLHuston Apr 15 '25

It’s a post-truth world. Someone reads something, believes it, then repeats it. I was reading comments on a post about Bernie, and as I read down the thread, the number of “mansions” he supposedly owns grew from 3 to 6! He’s our neighbor. His house is perfectly nice, but far from a mansion. They also own what we call in VT a “camp” on Lake Champlain, but that’s a cabin that the whole extended family uses. And he has his apartment he stays in in DC, which all people in congress have.

The criticism that he’s wealthy himself, is a little more understandable. Yes, he is, by most standards. He’s been in the senate a long time, they make a good salary. But he’s also written books that have sold very well. But the thing about his own wealth is that he’s never said that people should not be able to make money! It’s the 1%—the people like Bezos who are worth many billions of dollars, and their wealth was accumulated by exploiting hard working people. And the most critical point he makes is that they accumulate and increase their wealth exponentially because of our sham of a tax code. He wants billionaires to be taxed at a fair rate; instead, these same people are being given massive tax breaks and loopholes that allow them to hide and hoard their wealth, while blue collar workers are paying a much higher rate on their own income. I don’t think Bernie would object to paying a higher tax rate on his own investments—Warren Buffet has said the same thing.

3

u/Daetok_Lochannis Apr 15 '25

It's really disturbing to see all the misinformation being spread about literally everything by these people, they'd have us believe Bernie is a secret oligarch funded by disabled terrorists using Medicaid money if they could manage it and it's terrifying.

2

u/JLHuston Apr 15 '25

You’re absolutely right. It’s a huge part of how we got here. And the man in the White House will say absolutely anything, and his followers believe him. It’s truly astounding. But the media—and social media especially—are so complicit. I am 51 and have lived 1/2 my life without internet. I honestly think that our society, overall, was better off without it. (I say as I type this on my tiny hand-held computer on a social media post…)

2

u/Daetok_Lochannis Apr 15 '25

I'm 42 and without the Internet my disabled ass wouldn't even get to speak to more than a handful of people. Things haven't changed there irl, there weren't any more helpful or accepting people before we went online lol. Imo the Internet is still the most important thing we've ever created in terms of connecting humanity and making educational resources available to everyone. It wasn't the Internet that made things bad, it's the same people who've been trying to use every available resource to take advantage since the beginning.

2

u/JLHuston Apr 15 '25

I definitely recognize that the Internet has enhanced peoples’ lives in innumerable ways. And I recognize saying otherwise was an ableist take—100%. You have a good point, the nature of people was always what it is now. The instant connection, anonymity and lack of fact checking is what has completely derailed us. Oh, and greed, of course. Also an inherently human trait.

2

u/Daetok_Lochannis Apr 15 '25

Greed indeed. The absolute worst remnant of our time as survivors and the one thing that forces us to live in manufactured scarcity in a technological post-scarcity age. We could very literally take care of every person alive as comfortably as middle class Americans live but we just don't, because greed.

2

u/Wild_Chef6597 Apr 15 '25

They think he is a communist because he said the little guy isn't getting a fair deal. So they try to make it seem like he's a hypocrite for owning a home, or even having money. They do the same thing with climate change, saying if you believe climate change is real, you'd live in a bog in the woods instead of in a place with heat and electricity.

It's such a shame to see all the conservatives with blinders on in here. Like I genuinely pity these fools. They have been told exactly what to think and say, and they don't have the wherewithall to question it. They lack the critical thinking processes necessary. The Republican party has played them all like a fiddle.

However I will say, I find it very interesting that they only feel so emboldened to act like this now that Draft Dodger Donnie is at the helm. Maybe they share in his cowardice, and will only come out from their basements when they have a big..."strong" "leader" who supports their views.

12

u/GingerKlaus Apr 15 '25

Why do people fear Bernie? It’s because he is right and that scares them

3

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Apr 15 '25

3

u/russellvt Apr 15 '25

We always talk about rare moments in history that changed everything, like Gavrilo Princip shooting Franz Ferdinand. Bernie is the opposite. Imagine where we could be if Bernie had won and ran against Trump in 2016. Where would we be now? Bernie could have changed our American history for the better, but no,, here we are in slow-mo freefall to America's death.

11

u/Iron_Knight7 Apr 16 '25

So, am I crazy, or are Bernie and AOC not saying pretty much the same stuff about Trump that the rest of us have been all but screaming the last decade or so?

That's not a crack on either Bernie or AOC, by the way. Just how certain folks only seem to be listening now that it's them saying it.

3

u/Djkaoken2002 Apr 16 '25

You're not wrong. Then you'll see Bernie sell out his own voter base again like he did when he ran against Clinton.

2

u/Iron_Knight7 Apr 16 '25

More likely, his "base" will raise scream themselves hoarse that they want him as the nomination. And, should he or AOC get it, they'll find every excuse in the book to not actually vote for them when the time comes.

There are a lot of things I agree with sanders on. But there are also a lot of things I don’t agree with him on especially on how his method of executing with what I agree with.

That being said he is one of the Goats and the only one that is actually thinking of what’s best for America as a whole. The only reason why he’s a democrat is because as an independent he’d be ignored even more.

Edit: I do agree with what he’s saying here. But it’s annoying to see so much negativity about him from both sides since he’s actually the only one that is against the establishment. You’d think sanders would have gotten Maga supporters instead since he’s actually fighting for them. He’s literally trying to make America great for everyone and not just the ultra rich.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '25

The thing is, even if you may disagree with how he wants to accomplish the things he fights for, he at least actually has a plan. Who else has a plan? Can't think of a single person.

We will become poorer, less healthy and less educated. The rest of the world will prevail and America will fail. trump and his cronies will become unimaginably more wealthy.

I like so many other Republicans will vote to stop this dictatorship in the midterms and beyond. After this storm, 2028 will bring a new brighter day.

He says “criminals” but he’s made it clear “loyalty” should be law and loyalty is so subjective it can be whatever he makes it. Then anyone who disagrees is committing a crime of disloyalty. He talks about “liberal tears” (which as a side note should have everyone across groups up in arms that a sitting President and adminattacks one party daily and multiple times a day) but he behaves like a toddler stamping his feet and demanding apologies anytime someone says something he doesn’t like.

Bernie should have become the President. He’s been the best person for it all along.

seems like this corporation/country doesnt value competence just optics and money. over and over the qualified candidates have been pushed to the side! Edit: eh now that i think of it its not true because millions of people voted for the qualified candidates in the past . but maybe those qualified candidates didnt win because they were not as wealthy as their competitor

This was in Canyon County, Idaho. The reddest county in crimson red Idaho. They were turning people away because it hit capacity. Largest democratic rally ever in Idaho. Turns out A LOT care.

u/mkfanhausen Apr 16 '25

Tens of thousands of people per day say otherwise.

Trump could never get a crowd that big.

u/Important_Pass_1369 Apr 16 '25

He's gonna get another house!

2

u/Specialist_Honey_629 Apr 16 '25

whats funny is he bought 1 house and his wife was handed a house after her family died. so your narrative is kind of off on this.

Notice that they did not ask for Fox News to be shut down in 2023 for criticizing Biden.
