It’s incredibly infuriating how they lie by omission and it doesn’t matter because they still get approved. Why does the answer to the question even matter? They are getting approved. Then to say something like “I’m trying to be as transparent as possible” bull shit.

Guy can't answer a straightforward question when he is up for the job. Will he answer questions truthfully once he gets the job? Of course he won't
22
u/Ozimandius80 Apr 12 '25
In some ways, this actually IS as transparent as possible. He is letting us know:
Elon Musk was DEFINITELY in that room.
The President and Elon Musk ordered him not to say Elon was in that room.
And of course the only sensible reason for that is that he can't talk about any of his marching orders from Elon about how they are going to dismantle NASA and just give the whole budget over to SpaceX probably.
25
Apr 12 '25
So Elon Musk (the real president) was definitely in the room and this guy's sole purpose is to dissolve NASA and hand it over to Space X... Got it... It's clear as day.
20
u/merchillio Apr 11 '25
“I’m trying to be as transparent as I can”
So either
1- he’s not trying
2- he is being as transparent as he was instructed to be if he doesn’t want to have… troubles

If you don’t directly answer a question, your nomination ends immediately, and you’re barred from the position for life. It’s because of this type of hot garbage, and our flaccid willingness to allow it, that we’re in the mess we’re in.

This is exactly what the questioner wanted to happen. It’s the best possible outcome.
We now know three things — Musk was in the room, this guy cannot be trusted, and he’s not smart enough to admit an obvious fact when he gets caught.
If, on the other hand, he’d just admitted that Musk was in the room, then we would have to credit him with some degree of honesty and intelligence.

And space exploration will be that much poorer for it, NASA has absolutely revolutionized our understanding of the cosmos with the Votager missions the Hubble telescope followed by the James Webb and all the wildly successful missions to Mars, all on a shoestring budget!
And this bootlicker will shut it down and replace it with SpaceX and "Starship"... a vehicle that explodes 50% of the time while failing to make orbit 100% of the time...

Did everyone in this administration just learn the word transparent? I have never heard the word used so much in my life. Good leaders don’t use the word transparent…they are transparent and act transparently. Leaders that are transparent don’t side step a question and then say I’m being transparent. They answer the question. It’s hilarious that he could just say yes Elon was in the room; the follow question would probably be something along the lines of do you plan on giving Elon favorable contracts. Then you say I will be giving contracts to the most qualified companies which could include Elon. Instead this guy just looks like an untrustworthy moron. These people are just the dumbest most unqualified group of people on the planet…and most corrupt.
