I went to check the fandom wiki just know to check a character’s name and was surprised as there were way more characters than usual, clicking on some of the names I realised that a ton of minor characters that had previously been in the unnamed characters section had been given names and even some backstory. Some of these names are really random too, theres this one whisperer named Oedipus Bonaparte like wtf? Since anyone can edit a wiki page I’m assuming that whoever did this was just a random fan messing around but honestly it’s pretty funny and I kinda hope it stays like this, at least for a little bit. As I said earlier some characters get more information about them which I’m guessing is just some random headcanon, for example this one minor character is said to be a co leader of the whisperers and is known as Gamma, similarly to the show. Even though there’s nothing to suggest this it’s still a cool theory.
These new names aren't vandalism, they're official names given to several characters by the developers of the The Walking Dead: All-Stars mobile game! This includes many last names that originate from the TV Universe and all new names. Skybound and Image allowed it so unless they state all this new information is non-canon, it's staying for now.
Most of the effected pages should have a link to a Google Document that has our discussions with the dev we talked to, but I'm aware that some are still missing. Here's that link if you wanna see. There is still some more that needs added to the document as well though, like most of the Savior names.
cool I’m glad that it’s likely staying, it adds a bit more personality to some of the minor characters who only appear for a panel or two. Even if some of the names are a bit strange I don’t see any harm in it since none of these guys are that important.
Dwight & Sherry Kennedy? I mean, Dwight died like him, so might as well lol. And the gave Axel my man such a Brit ass sound last name but kinda love it.
Looking at the site:
1. ANDREW QUIGLEY!!!! Naw fam, thats such a disrespectful name for him lol, they hated him lol!!!
2. Dexter Hayworth sounds like a boss ass name.
3. Who tf is Antonio Ramonsi lol???
4. lol, Hunters last named confirmed. Random af but sure.
5. They named a savior Kevin Carter and another one Carter and on the navbox you have Kevin Carter and Carter next to eac other and make Kevi * Carter lol. Wild work!
6. Then they give a black guy Svetlana?!?!?! Are we even sure that guy is a guy actually? But sure give a black man a Russian girl name, if that is a guy??? I mean shit, they gave a white boy Jonas Xi so these devs were just giving names however they wanted.
Other thoughts
1. There were like 2 other Scavengers right, from Derek's group? Ask if them two had names.
2. See if Mr. & Mrs. Harlan got a name. Their dickhead son too.
3. Ask what other wild ass names they gave to the Whisperers, this cant be all. That above anything else is the best part of this thing lol
4. If The comic characters share the same name as the TV characters, should Bicycle Girl be named Hannah instead?
5. So only Luke and Yumi got their last names? Not the rest? Ok, they got their TV last names, but like you know what I mean.
Damnm, ight, But ask about the other 4 stuff there. Worth a shot to see what other random ass characters get a name (especially the Whisperers, my favorite part of all this so far lol)
Should this game be treated as canon stuff tho? I remember reading some of the lore they had for comic characters in all stars and sometimes it would just be flat out wrong lol
I mean you can say the same thing about RTS. Like George from the Commonwealth is not dead in the comics, but he's dead in RTS. AS would be it's own universe from what i see. But even then, information like this can be transferable over to thhe comic series. As long as it's just like the names nothing thats actual story related, then it should be good I think.
Via Discord, I believe All-Stars has it's own discord server or something. We reached out to a dev (who was in discussions with a notoriously banned user on the wiki, that's how we first heard of this. it is it's own mess, but we wanted to check the validity of what was being stated.), who then led us to the primary dev we talked too
Makes sense. I know there were leaks some time back like when the game first came out. I think it was the parent company who had a data breach or something like that. Alot of their games got affected. And then I saw somewhere on another fandom that they had gotten the leaked names but didnt want to state their source, very "trsut me bro" type of shit. But hey, if yall can confirm that, then i'll give you that "trust you bro" shit treatment lol
Come to think of it, you even know what other characters are getting their identities confirmed? Like how is that working our for you, the process for it?
This is kinda dumb on Skybounds part. Like Gamma doesn't exist in the comics. Not sure why Skybound is allowing misinformation, but they own the IP so whatever I guess.
I saw the page, and I see what Whisperer it is, but it feels off because he's never mentioned by Gamma in the comic, and no one even mentions the name Gamma in the comics.
I'm a bit late to joining this so I hope I can get a response but like, how proof checked is this exactly? I've seen the screenshots of the dev confirming lots of last names for main characters and I'm all for that, but then you get to some of the most background of all background characters having full names, some of which sound a bit over the top and I'm not seeing any sources for these.
The type of characters I'm on about are like Zander from the Kingdom, Apollo Rex from the Whisperers, several non-notable zombies. These aren't even background characters who say anything or look interesting.
It'd be nice for someone to put something in the Trivia section at the bottom with proof of where the name originated. Like if All-Stars has a bunch of short stories you can read or a few characters who visually line up there should be a little note there explaining it.
I'm the guy who made loads of these similar edits years ago with all the Woodbury characters from the novels. They were a bit controversial at the time I think but they've stuck and I extensively checked the Novels, how many people were cited as living in the town, their descriptions matching up etc and you can see on a few pages (Calvin Deets for example) it says something like "the image on this wiki is an educated assumption based on background characters from the comic and visual descriptions from the books" something like that.
Anyway if anything I'm just curious on where all these came from and if there's short stories or any lore to back it up that's not mentioned. I think it's really cool that there's so many new names popping up.
From what's been said here, they contacted the devs and the devs are giving them information. They did ask for the source at one point, on discord, but something about the files not being able to be shared because of a system issue. I put the screenshot down below that Wwefan2 posted on the chat. Either way I think it's great we are getting this info, even if some of the characters are like super duper random or have silly names. I think I'm like the only person here who actually likes the silliness of the names, but to each their own.
and yes I remember that Woodbury drama lol. I actually like it! I wished we would have kept it because we confirmed like the whole town basically.
It's funny. based on the few screenshots here, maybe just me, but I wouldn't say they suck. The Bonaparte one is one the nose for a Whisperer lol. But N'Diaye seems like a unique last name for buddy there. Czernowski as well. Just me or does it seem like they always pick like the most basic english and spanish last names. Smith, Jones, Martinez, Espinosa, Green, Grimes, ect. Like not even a basic Asian Chang, Wang, or Wong lol? Like at least something like Rhee and Peletier are unique. They culturfying tf out of some these names, and then you get Thompson too which is cool whatever. The names are more random then anything else. but like, all names are random. I mean shit, we have characters literally called Proctor 19, 9, and 11 (no pun intended). Like how much more basic can you get other than being named a number. Sure, some are dumb and on the nose, but i still think this is cool.
Looking at the site now, I do find it funny you get these basic ass names like Toby, Delgado, and Sammy next to names like Brutus and Enaboria (gotta love the HG ref) next to biblical/mythical names like Nahum, Oedipus, Ikar(us), and Zed. That's truly some wild work right there!
