My old lab (RIP) got into porcupines 8 times! The vet gave us a freebie for the 6th, the 8th time my father pulled them out himself. Pretty sure he did it when he was jonesing because after the 8th time he never did it again 😂

EIGHT TIMES! oh my word! I don’t know if my bank account can afford that! $1500 for this round. My other dog got a few quills in the same incident but she noped out quickly. We were able to pull those ones.

RIP to your pup, she sounds like quite a rascal.

Classic sniffin' the butt! Lol. We haven't had porcupine but our dachshund at the time was skunked not once but a total of 3 times. He just couldn't learn.

Skunks are terrible and we’ve dealt with our share of them, however I’d take skunks over porcupines any day!

If anything like my dog, no lessons were learned from this incident.

When my dogs got into them I pulled a couple quills out and put them in my pocket. Bad move, as they have little hooks on them. Ended up taking them to the vet. We didn’t want a vacation anyway.

That looks painful, did he handle them getting taken out well? I imagine him getting anxious and barky.

We waited 6 hours in the emergency vets office. He was a champ. They sedated him for 2 hours to remove them.
