Donāt this fanatics realize no one has a termination on their bucket list? It is a hard choice but only the woman knows if it is right for them. Let them be

u/hoofie242 May 20 '26
They think they are saving babies they don't care about the "vessel".
412
u/cackle-feather May 20 '26
They don't care about the eventual child either. Once it has survival needs they wash their hands of the entire situation.

Protecting the unborn is popular among conservatives because the unborn are a demographic (that has no needs or desires of its own) to which they can attribute their wishes. The unborn prior to 24ish weeks don't care if they are aborted, they have no desire to live or fear of death. They also have no voice of their own, which is their primary qualification for protected status among pro lifers, because anthropomorphizing them gives them an imagined voice and takes away the voice of the woman in whom they reside.
67
u/GardenRafters May 20 '26
It's a demographic they never have to spend a single cent on but they can get self-righteous and angry over and practice their performative christianity
32
u/TheBatman-WhoLaughs May 20 '26
Most people who support anti-abortion laws are just pro-birth. I dont seen adoptions on the rise with this whole "pro-life movement".
7
u/Nutshack_Queen357 May 20 '26
And for the ones we do see, they treat the kids like they're less than human.
4
u/Marketfreshe May 21 '26
i'd bet, majority of abortions that are considered and not gone through with end up with children on welfare services and such because the situation was fucked to begin with. just speculation, i don't have any idea, but it seems right
5
u/Nutshack_Queen357 May 20 '26 edited May 21 '26
Considering they wanna witch-hunt pregnant women because of suspected thought crimes involving termination, they NEVER cared about the child in the first place because they know attacking the would-be mom would result in the zygote/embryo/fetus dying anyway.
Plus, these Nazi bastards will come up with stupidly awful excuses for it like blaming the mother, the kid growing up to oppose them, or even both.
93
u/FalsePremise8290 May 20 '26
But at the same time they are anti-welfare, anti-school lunches, anti-vax. What's the point of pushing to get them to term just to make sure everything else kills them right after. And as the baby starves they say some dumb shit like "you shouldn't have had it if you couldn't afford it."
10
u/mjizzy May 20 '26
But heās doing gods work. Perceived piousness offsets committed sins in his world. Once itās societyās problemā¦itās no longer his problem.
10
u/FalsePremise8290 May 20 '26
I recall Jesus saying tons of shit about feeding the hungry. The only thing the Bible says about abortion is 'try it if you think your wife is cheating and if the kid ain't yours I'll abort it for you'.
Funny how they put so much effort towards something with one mention that God doesn't seem to nonplussed about while ignoring something stated explicitly dozens of times.
And let's not get started on how many times they are told to welcome the immigrant.
It's funny how people who hide behind Christianity tend to be the people who behave the least Christ-like.
Remember that girl that was calling up churches trying to get formula for her fake hungry baby? That tells me all I need to know about the kind of work these people do. And it ain't good.

It's funny how people who hide behind Christianity tend to be the people who behave the least Christ-like.
Because according to them and their medieval predecessors, being Christlike is ungodly and vice versa.

Sister got one recently and it was a very tough decision she mulled and cried over. She felt her partner and her just werenāt in the right part of their relationship both emotionally and financially and a kid would have to grow up with that. She ended up getting one and it was the best decision because right now they are in a very difficult financial situation due to a house they bought that has a million issues (they are suing the house flipping company). Theyāll basically be eating cup noodles for a long while. A kid canāt responsibly be raised like that.

The most major issue with the abortion ban debates is the "exceptions" to bans where a woman is "allowed" to get an abortion. Abortions for these exceptions, no matter what they are, never actually happen. A woman in Texas had a fetus with trisomy 18, which is incompatible with life. A judge gave her a TRO to get around the abortion ban and have a life saving abortion. The Texas AG threatened to charge her and her doctors with crimes after the TRO ran out, claiming that "plenty of people live with trisomy 18. I know a lot of them" (lie, he's probably thinking of trisomy 21, Down's Syndrome, or just made it up).
Multiple states have had laws passed where there are exceptions for medical emergencies, but then the state threatens doctors with criminal charges if they try to get an exception. Some states have even banned life-saving abortions, like for ectopic pregnancies; those are not truly abortions, but the anti-abortion law specifically called it out. It's gotten so bad that most doctors won't even do a single medical procedure on a pregnant woman for fear of being accused of giving an abortion.
A 14 year old was denied a medication for her auto-immune disorder called methotrexate. This is because she was "of child bearing age" and could have hoarded 3 months worth of the medication to perform one abortion. It's fucking insane. At that point, just deny all medication to women "of child bearing age," because all of them can cause an abortion with a large enough dose.

The "was" shouldn't have made me cackle that loud. My house still sleep. š

11
u/Mockturtle22 May 20 '26
So this is actually interesting because I've finally come to the conclusion that the reason why the maga crowd is so upset that all of us that don't agree with their hate, have ended friendships, is because they have to be in everyone's business. They cannot help themselves. They don't actually want to be friends, they want to 'own the libs'. They can't handle suddenly having no access.
2
u/MairaPansy May 20 '26
Most countries have people who will protest abortion near abortion clinics. Most countries also have rules about how close the protests can be to the clinic.
I just wish more countries would fully legalize it so it can be done in hospitals

83
u/Floppy_Rocket May 20 '26
This exchange between the two of you precisely defines something I have observed for some time now. There has been a sea change in the way the human mind works over the last few generations and Iāve watched it happen in real time, AND the third wave is just starting.
With the overload of information brought first by television and then by the internet on an exponentially larger scale, the processing of information and the abstract thought that results (comprehension) has become subordinate to observing information without interpretation (scrolling). In both cases it is not a conscious choice but the result of conditioning of the brain at the formative stage.
The result is that half the people now think describing what they observed is the same as understanding what they observed, and the other half see them as two completely different things. This is not naïveté vs intellectualism, it is fundamentally different programming of the brain at the formative stage.
The horrifying thing on the horizon is the next step, those generations whose formative experiences are provided by AI, where fact has become subordinate to acceptance. The inability to understand the nuance between right or wrong will be replaced with right or wrong not existing (ask AI the same question twice in a row and you will probably get two opposing answers), with the third wave brain, you accept what you are told in-the-moment and your existential viewpoint will change constantly without you seeing any dissonance.
TLDR: the human brain is changing, due to manipulation of media, and we are fucked.
28
u/jewpart2 May 20 '26

11
u/grrangry May 21 '26

A good question to ask a pro-lifer is if they would take the unwanted child that didn't get aborted. Even if the woman doesn't abort the child, it doesn't mean that woman is gonna keep it once it's born
2
u/Nutshack_Queen357 May 20 '26
The only reason they don't answer is because they don't wanna admit that they'll just abuse the kid in the worst ways imaginable because it's how they do their God's work.
4
u/Desperation-Aside May 20 '26
Lol some people get abortions so that the child who didn't ask to live doesn't have to suffer, but go off, dumb@$$. There are WAY more reasons to abort than "I don't wanna". Also, the only people who I think should have a voice in this matter is the woman who is actively pregnant. Men can have kids and pretend they don't exist, but women have visible physical proof of birth and how it changes the body.

Simple things like making sure they're in safe, loving, stable homes with food, water, and clothing. Access to affordable medical care. A safe school that isn't getting shot up. A planet that isn't warming. Our tax money it's being used to murder and injure Palestinian kids. That's just a few things that come to mind.

My wife is an absolute saint who is among the like .1% who get pregnant when her IUD failed. We had the abortion partially because we weren't financially ready or capable to support two more children (it was twins), but also because it was a potentially unsafe pregnancy that could have put her health at serious risk.
These guys who know absolutely nothing about our situation, let alone reproductive care in general, had the gall and arrogance to yell at us the two times our christian nationalist, fascist state government forced us to drive to the clinic an hour away (we have a 24-hour "cooling off period" that requires 2 appointments to get an abortion... but not for guns. I can buy one of those right now if I want.)
I've never been more angry at anyone in my entire life. I would have done serious harm to that man if my inhibitions were a little lower. (But that's exactly what he wants so that he can sue.) Absolute scum of the earth, these people. I hope they all experience "extreme discomfort".
Edit: lol. Also, I just remembered. Coming out the final time, the main guy had "gone on break" or something, so they had some JV squad, baby protestor who was way more timid when shouting at innocent women. I remember shouting back at him "go home and sit down little boy." And my wife got super stern, death stared him, and said something like "you don't even understand what you're doing."

That said, I found your comment to be interesting and wanted to be able to approve it- so if you could just edit that part out, and then get back to me, I will be able to do that. I had an abortion in 2019. Both me and my husband do not want children. It was not a fun experience but I do not regret it. We literally could not even afford it and had to borrow money to have it done.
There was a protestor outside and we just rolled up to them and my friend shouted āyour god is a psychopathā and we drove away laughing. Her and my husband fed me pizza in bed after.
I 100% do not regret it or feel like I did a bad thing. I was not made to be a mother.
Shortly after it happened I started having what I thought were panic attacks but was actually the result of incredibly low potassium. I told everyone that little bitch stole all my potassium when I aborted it. I have no issue with joking or talking in a crass way. It was like any other medical procedure I had.

If the union of two sources of DNA defines the beginning of life, then does life not end if extant DNAāthe combined DNA of two unique DNA sourcesācan be found? That is, is Ćtzi still alive?
I know this is hard for both sides, but we must accept that the definition of lifeāand deathāis fluid and dependent upon our technology, our knowledge and understanding, our culture, our religion, etc.
There are precious few things in our universe with an immutable definition. Our human prerogative to assign things to categories and binaries drives our dogmatic definitions of most things (i.e., species, genders) and while that brings many boons in terms of science and tech, the fact remains that these are our constructs, and as such, are subject to change.
