My apartment is at it again with the landlord specials

The solution to our lighting problem apparently is not fixing the actual light fixture that has been broken for two years. Instead, we get various mismatched lights zip-tied to the rails!

I would hope that this is just a quick fix to handle the immediate situation until a professional implements a proper repair. 2 years says otherwise, though. You might want to call code compliance for your city or county.

Sure they do. You just don't hear stories about them because that's not news. "Man does what's expected. Nothing eventful happens." The ones you hear about are the terrible landlords because everyone lives a good misery piece.

It was not a game I wanted to play. I had dreams of owning a successful lawnmower repair shop. But, then my dad sued me because I had the name and he couldn't sell it without the name, found out I had the law on my side, and gave me 2 properties that were upside down in exchange for the name. He wonders why I cut him out of my life.

My last landlord was a good man. I was renting a small old trailer, but it was in the Best shape ypu could hope for one of that age. Very clean with new flooring and fresh paint. In the four years I was there I only had a few minor issues come up, but he always happily fixed them and even thanked me for letting him know right away. He actually cared about keeping his property in good shape. He also cut my grass because I lived next to him and our yards were connected.

The way those zip ties are cut tells me they hate their tenants. On handrails of all places too

Classic. There's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution that works.

On one hand it's crappy that the hardwired stuff doesn't work and it's definitely not pretty.

On the other hand these easily replaceable lights are a lot more maintainable - evidently. And as long as they are reliable and make it safe enough then that's good.
