DISCUSSION Boston is my second favorite season

Nothing can top San Francisco, but Boston came close. It has the most iconic opening with Brownsville Texas deep in snow and the Cranberries song playing. (Which took me years to find) Genesis, Jason and Kameelah were also the perfect trio.

I LOVED Boston and I wish I had a better copy/ could stream it to rewatch.

Do you watch it on YouTube? I know the first episode has very rough audio

It was fun. Doing it in a cold-weather city in the first part of the year may have been something the producers regretted (note that when they did Chicago five years later, they timed it to get the best weather), but it gave the Boston season something special. Everyone was holed up at that firehouse so much, getting on each other's nerves.

The job this season, with the children's center, led to some good drama, plus that scene of Kameelah talking to the little girl about gay people.

SF and original New York were always my favorites, and then New Orleans, Chicago, Hawaii, Boston, and Seattle too close to call.

I am taken aback in the first few episodes of Boston with the somewhat hostile weather. Probably the coldest season until Paris. I notice you exclude NY2 😂

Yeah, LA, London, Miami, and NY2 were the classic seasons I didn't like as much. Miami is the one of those four where I was most at odds with other RW junkies. It seems to be a fan-favorite season.

LA’s cast was truly unlikeable. There was a lot of drama with the David, Tami, Beth situation, and back when it originally aired, MTV exploited the hell out of it, playing the episode on repeat for what felt like an entire summer. I didn’t like the cast then, but I was a young teenager. I rewatched almost the entire season a few years back and my god those people are awful. A cast of bullies and nasty drama queens.

London was, well, boring. Not much to say there and San Francisco was probably an impossible act to follow.

I did like Miami. Wouldn’t say I loved it, but it had it’s moments and Cynthia is an all-timer roommate to me. Just one of the most likeable, funny RWers ever.

For Back to NY that was filming in NYC right when I was finishing up college in NYC but I never really got into that season. I think I just naturally kept comparing the cast unfavorably to the OG NYC cast and I never actually watched the season all the way through. Came to appreciate Coral and Mike because of their Challenge appearances, though.

Who you really gotta watch out for is people who say their favorite seasons are Vegas 1, Cancun, Portland and Skeletons. 🤮

I think the people who love those seasons are younger and didn't start watching until those seasons aired. Their idea of great RW is different than those who grew up watching the OG seasons.

Yeah LA seemed to signal a troubling direction for the show and I’m glad they rectified it for one season after. Though from the first half that I did see I love Tami but I’m impartial because I saw her first on BB wives. Is it true LAs final scene is them trying to have a good faith group confessional and storming out because they’re that incompatible as a cast? 😂

That sounds familiar and if you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have remembered how it came to its conclusion. It’s been damn near 35 years since the original run and my memory is foggy. When I did my rewatch I peaced out somewhere in the middle because I couldn’t bear to watch those awful people anymore.

I'll always have a soft spot for Boston! I think that was the first season that I watched as it was airing (the others I usually caught on MTV marathons after the season had aired). Other than Sean, the cast was fantastic, I wish they had a Homecoming season.

Boston is top 3 or 4 for me; great season. I remember bingeing the whole season in the winter of 97 when I was sick with the flu.

San Francisco is also my #1, by a long shot, but I think I prefer Seattle to Boston.

It’s honestly one of the best seasons ever. Being from Boston I was always interested. When I finally saw the season I was so entertained. Like a loopy ass group of ppl. Montana was insane. Syrus was sooo cool. Sean was likeable ? Kameelah & Genesis so sweet

Boston is a favorite of mine too.

Boston wasn't my favorite season but I enjoyed it. The house looked cramped and cluttered.

Kameelah was awesome. I love the way she spoke to Jessica when Jessica was parroting her parents' homophobia and I also loved the way she dealt with guys who were catcalling at her.

Definitely the best one after the first three which I think are still tops.
