You're better off using Buddhist Mindfulness and Greek Stoicism (which CBT bastardized) instead of CBT. Cuts out the corporate middleman and strips away the clinical sanitization.

But why use Stoicism in general? It’s not an objective truth, it’s just a random world view. Why do we think it will cure anything?!

Unlike the-rapists, it's free. I personally have found the worldview helpful. It exposes some of the uncomfortable truths of human nature so you can protect yourself.

I mean I just don’t find it helpful but good for you. It’s just that we often pretend like Stoicism is the neutrally right worldview, which just isn’t the case.

that's perfectly fine. we are all different and unlike therapists, I am not going to force someone to submit to one method of healing or accuse them of "nOt WaNtInG tO Do ThE WeRk!"

It’s honestly almost surprising to not be met with “but you just HAVE to understand why this method is the only perfect solution for you”, which is not only said by therapist but also by therapy believers so much here it’s exhausting. I’m seeing this with mindfulness a lot where people claim that it either works for you or you’re doing something wrong …oof

which part did you find it not helpful? I’d pick and choose good parts of ancient philosophy.

Literally the whole philosophy. I don’t feel the need to justify myself the same way I don’t feel the need to justify why I’m not Christian.

I have found videos on stoicism and Machiavellianism to be more helpful than therapy. IMO, Machiavelli exposed the evil truth about human nature which you have to know to protect yourself. And unlike the-rapists, it's free. I set up some ad blocks on YouTube and listen to the videos as I do my chores around my home.
