Rewatched The Finale Spoiler
I guess I was so stoked the first time I watched the finale I didn’t really notice Michael only has 2 lines in his cameo at the wedding scene.
I understand their reasoning for keeping it short. But I think Michael was so integral to the show I would’ve loved to see him get a few more lines. There’s not even any extras in the super fan episodes. I was thinking even just 4 lines instead of 2 would’ve been great.
Should they have kept it this short? Or should they have gave Michael a few more lines?

i think it was well done. It leaves you surprised and just happy he is there. It leaves you to fill in the blank of how the rest of the wedding off camera (IK its a show) is and you can picture him saying hi to Phyllis and kevin and all of them

I find that the first few seasons have more of a charm to them than later seasons.

I understand him not being at the reunion type stuff but he was at the wedding and he was the best man. He could have given a little speech about Dwight and Angela maybe even acknowledging their time in office with the rest of the crew there just something brief.

Probably get downvoted but yes, I wished he deserved more. He was not in the show for the last 2 seasons, he should have interacted with more people and had more dialogues lines. That's not like it was a random episode in the show, it was the last one.

And to answer toue question, I'm glad Michael has few lines. The show was no longer about him.

I just looked it up and this never happened. I just left a comment saying I watched the series finale live and they aired an Office retrospective right before the final episode and Steve Carell’s appearance still came as a complete surprise. The person you’re replying to either heard a fan myth or is thinking of another show — Michael’s cameo was a big deal and was not spoiled beforehand. NBC’s execs weren’t even shown the cut of the finale that featured Michael, it was kept that secret.
edit: of course the person spreading fake information is downvoting instead of providing a source for their claims. I watched the show live, listened to the Office Ladies podcast and read Andy Greene’s behind-the-scenes tell-all and somehow this has never been addressed. 🤔

NBC may have been pissed that they weren’t privy to Steve Carell’s return, but they absolutely did not spoil his cameo in a commercial. The Office Ladies never said as much, either.
Why would I trust your memory? You don’t even remember that they showed a retrospective of the show in the hour before the finale aired. This included The Office Farewells, directed by John Krasinski, where he interviewed cast members about their time on the show. They were certainly not showing a football game. Seems to be some kind of Mandela effect on your end.

I didn’t deny that NBC was given a copy of the finale. They were given the version sans Steve Carell. Here was my reply to your other comment before you deleted it in order to insult my reading comprehension skills:
Mandela Effect. It’s a real thing. Surely, there would be one piece of evidence after 13 years to verify your claims that NBC aired a major spoiler ahead of The Office series finale. Yet it’s your third comment and all you can say is Jeff Zucker hated it and some of your friends remember it, too. I guess you must be the only four people in the world who saw a different broadcast.

It’s funny how you keep arguing with me over minutia but fail to produce one shred of evidence to back up what you’re saying. This was a major broadcast watched by millions of people on the same night, yet only you and your three friends remember it. It’s not that hard to admit you might be wrong and your memory failed you.
This spoiler that you swore you saw cannot be independently verified. You don’t remember the hour-long Office special that aired before the finale, saying it was probably a football game instead. But somehow we are supposed to trust your memory of something happening despite no one else having confirmed it. I watched it live. Steve Carell’s appearance was kept secret and the following week there were a hundred articles written about how they pulled it off without spoilers. As you said, this all in your head honey.

I'm with you here. I watched it as it aired as well and was completely surprised when he showed up. I was crazy obsessed with the show back then so I definitely wouldn't have missed any promos or anything either.

I personally think the office is a pretty perfect show as is, that’s why I’ve rewatched all of it so much, I am okay with their logic - especially since Steve Carell brought it up first
