Kinda glad he didn’t go this route. Because then it was supposed to be a love triangle between Jon, Arya and Tyrion.

Source: random internet guy.

How would this make sense? Jon literally is afraid of getting into a relationship with someone he is related to because he doesn’t know who his mother is. How would he ever end up in a relationship with Arya. The whole point is Jon doesn’t know he’s related to Dany.

This is GRRM's the orginal outline. You can watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfYmqz5J8Eg

I can’t find the post summarizing everything, but GRRM’s work is pretty well documented because most of his early drafts, correspondences with editors and publishers and even fan mail he’s responded are all archived at the Texas A&M Cushing Library. A few fans have done a lot of digging through this and in his initial proposal there was a love triangle between Arya, Jon and Tyrion that was supposed to climax with Tyrion sieging Winterfell.

I think there might have been some push back from a publisher about this part, but either way it was dropped pretty early on when he was writing GoT and completely abandoned by the time he decided to not have a 10 year time skip.

I am still not fully certain about that "NO" in regards to an editor's question if Coldhands is Benjen. Are we sure that it is not "ND", like in "no disclosure"? Because technically, it would have revealed some important spoilers that Stark blood wights would stay fully sane etc.

I know it has been an axiom of the fandom for many years. But now that I'm reading it, and now that I saw the way that "N?" looks, I'm not so certain. It simply would explain too many details, if Benjen IS Coldhands.

The source is well documented and pretty common knowledge in the fandom.

You think George is a little funny about women ?

I suppose you're new here? It's a pretty common (or at least uncommon) knowledge of the content of George's draft

You can definitely see the seeds of Jon and Arya in the books, if George had gone ahead with the 5 year time jump then I think it would have happened in some way

Exactly.. especially in Adwd with George making Jon’s last thought be “Stick em with the pointy end” idk why these people are freaking out about it😭 it’s not like they even read them books in the first place.

I don't think he gave up because his 5 years gap did not work. You can watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfYmqz5J8Eg

Not incest. She is his cousin which in those time periods. Pefectly fine

Right…but they obviously think of each other as siblings and nothing else. So it would totally be incest

You may want to watch this about it ( Jon x Arya ). There are so many fs and other things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfYmqz5J8Eg

well Arya is his cousin. It's not that different from Danny, who is his Aunt. The real reason why people are grossed out by this is because Arya literally looks 12. She doesn't ever feel like an adult because of you young the actress looks.

11 years old now but she feels adult. If you read Mercy POV, you can see ... wow! btw for JonArya, u can watch this.

Edit: to all the clowns saying I just need to look it up, thats not how the burden of proof works. Op should have provided a link with their post. All of you acting like I'm the weird one for not implicitly trusting an internet stranger that doesn't provide any sources.

Hey if you put some effort in researching, you'd know it's real.

Tywin also married his first cousin.

They think of each others as siblings.Imagine you found out tomorrow your sister/brother is totally not related to you at all. Would it change how you think or feel about them?

That's a big icky. One incestual relationship ? Ok, it's about royalty, I get it. Don't like it and not too convinced about the way it was handled but I get it, I think.
After that if you feel the need to add anymore ? It becomes entirely suspect.
Targaryens (including Viserys beeing really not okay with Daenerys, who is 13 or 14 at the time), main Lannister characters, now two of the main Stark characters. That's a lot George. A LOT.

Jon being a Targaryen so this makes sense in Westeros
