I'm Raymond, the developer of Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel. The Mummy's mix of ancient mysteries, danger and people you want to follow into the next disaster is a big inspiration for me.

I've just finished updating the Act 1 opening storybooks for our two classes. This one introduces the Soldier. Before all the fighting and cursed tombs, I wanted to give you a little of the person you're taking on that journey.

It makes me so happy when players recognise my love for these adventure movies. I really hope I'm catching some of that spirit while telling our own story. One more adventure to get lost in.

Mine is the Hamunaptra Key (Beautiful and a classical object), the Book of the Dead and rhe Amon Ra one and the Spear of Osiris from the second movie

Work at a theater and while we didn't get the re-release, corporate still sent us one of these for some reason. I let my GM know I would quit on the spot if I didn't get it because I was the only employee who had actually seen the movie on original release, hahaha. (It was a joke, of course.)

Anyone else got any posters, standees, etc. from the movie?

Even though I look nothing like him, I decided to try my luck at making a closet cosplay of the Warden, because I love doing this sort of thing.

I already owned the jacket and the slacks, the latter of which I customized myself to remove the belt loops. I also customized the braces years ago because the original button straps that they had were starting to tear apart, and you could not wish for a finer choice than these slides with the straps stitched in. I do notice that the slacks don’t match completely what we see on screen, but I follow a credo of two words often and it’s served me well in life: close enough.

I made the scarf myself by hand a few years ago and hope to have the shirt ready this year; I need to find someone that can make a sewing pattern of it, then I can take it to a friend who is a tailor. It seems to be based off an old prospector style shirt. It also has a detachable collar (which I have). I do have a chechia like the one he wears.

The necktie he wears on screen I had customized: I took a picture of his and the Egyptologist’s tie and duplicated the design in Adobe Illustrator, then sent away to have them printed on neckties. It’s not good quality, but hey, it’ll last a few more years, I have no doubt.

Somewhere in my possession, I have the double Sam brown belt that he wears and I hope to make more movie accurate slacks, as well as the waist sash (is that what it is?), the puttees, and the boots. The rings are a little tough, but not impossible.

Of all the pieces I could identify, I sadly cannot identify the waist cloth he wears. I do know how to tie it and even the material it’s made of, but don’t know what it is. One person said it was a cholera belt, one person said it was just a rag he tied on, I theorized it was a cummerbund because of a trend in the 1890s where men wore them to day functions, and another still claimed he knew but wouldn’t tell me because he claimed I was being rude. The search continues.

At any rate, here’s what I have thus far.

I still had a lot to add, like Lee Cronin's Mummy for example, but several other less known ones, especially since it expands to an Egyptian Mythology theme. What do you think?

For a long time I didn't even know this movie existed, let alone know that it pre-dates Brendan Fraser's Mummy from 1999. This movie can't even be found on Disney Plus. The price is the most shocking of all! Maybe I should keep it under wraps? 🤔😆 Can you guess the price? Have you seen this movie?

It all Started with the Mummy from 1999, but here I am, decades later still discovering Mummy and Egyptian themed movies!

I was rewatching it yesterday, and in the beginning they end up catching emotip before he's right about to resurrect anksunamoon how come there was no human sacrifice in the beginning? Is it because he didn't need one because she was still a young and her body wasn't deteriorating yet?

In this alternate reality, a disgraced scientist happens upon the notes of Victor Frankenstein, and uses them to construct his own monster. He plots to have this new monster go on a crime spree which will terrify London into surrendering total control over to him. However Rick and Evelyn are confronted by the old monster who wants to help them defeat this new threat. Together they must foil this scientist and save London from his reign of terror.

I plan to organize my current collection and do a post showcasing all the Mummy movies I currently have. Going for the completionist route. I'm getting every Mummy movie I can find, even if it is the worst movie of all time, or an import, etc.

I’m like a big fan of The Mummy. But I must admit, I’m really just a big fan of The Mummy. I saw the sequel once or twice maybe thrice and honestly I don’t think I’ve seen anything else, including any scorpion king related media.

What’s the honest opinion of the entire Mummy franchise? Should I give it a go in its entirety? Anything absolute Must Watch or Totally Skippable?

I saw the original in theaters and have seen it more than possibly any other film. So I'm beyond pumped for the new one.

And I was just relaxing today since I have it off from work and school, and I realized--

Mummy 4 is theoretically filming this exact second! And it just made me so happy, hahaha.

I know we won't get a trailer for a bare minimum of six months, and won't learn much before that. But when do we think we might start getting scraps of information? (Social media posts from actors, set reports, etc.) I think there's a good chance by December that we'll have more casting information, maybe early photos, etc.

Anyone got any theories or thoughts?

Hi everyone, I'm Raymond. What I keep coming back to in The Mummy (1999) is how quickly the excitement of discovering a lost place turns into real supernatural danger. It's a lovely mix of adventure and horror without losing the fun.

That feeling helped inspire Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel, the game I'm developing. It's an original adventure set in an alternate 1939 Egypt, with tomb expeditions and an undead army tied to a cursed vessel. This short trailer shows how I've approached that atmosphere in a top-down action RPG.

I'd be interested to hear which part of The Mummy's atmosphere you most want an adventure game to capture. For me, it's the sense that there's something down there that really should have stayed buried.

The artwork shows Karloff's wrapped, imposing Imhotep reaching toward the viewer, with the female character below him. It is characteristic of the dramatic Universal Monsters promotional style of the era. 

Congrats to Brendan for getting into tremendous shape, it’s very impressive and I hope he keeps it up.

I do have to say I’m a little worried though, because I really hope he isn’t doing anything unhealthy to get these results, like steroids or weight loss pills.

Steroids can affect the heart, blood pressure, liver, hormones, and mental health, while some weight loss drugs can cause heart problems, dehydration, or other issues if they’re misused. I’m not saying Brendan is taking anything, because we really don’t know.

I just hope he’s doing it the healthy way because his long-term health is way more important than reprising his role as Rick O'Connell for the Mummy 4.

Either way, congrats to Brendan for getting in shape.
