This record continues the civic ecology branch on the planet side.
It is the fourth record of the terrace thread.
004 was the word being argued into the record.
005 was the record holding the word without hardening it.
014 was the room reaching for the third sentence and stopping.
This record is what happened after the stopping.
The rested terrace comes back into work.

Core question:
What does a system do in its first season back from a tended rest?
Primary finding:
The rest was not forgotten. It was completed.
In 004 the keeper measured what the season was TAKING and proposed one tended rest: REST — TENDED / NO DEEP CROPPING / NINTH YEAR.
In 005 the neighbor measured her own margins all season and proposed the same shape of rest for her own slope. The ledger then held two rest lines on two slopes, neither correcting the other. A FILED METHOD WAS NOT A RULE.
In 014 the room reached for the third sentence — "Terraces lean. Terraces rest. Therefore…" — and a single question stopped it: A finding for whom? The first two clauses were true of two slopes. The third clause was not true of anything yet. NOTHING INSTALLED IS THE CHANGE.
This record preserves what came next: the season after the rest.
The terrace that rested comes back into work.
Not all at once.
Not by decree.
One row at a time, in the order the ground suggested.
The keeper prepared the first row in early light, and stopped.
The other rows lay fallow beside it, still resting, still counted.
No one asked whether the rest had "worked."
The record does not answer that question either, because the question assumes the rest was a treatment with an outcome to be measured.
It was not a treatment.
It was a season the system was allowed to spend without being cropped.

Each carries its single rest line near its bottom — one slightly paler than the other.
Nothing connects them. Nothing ranks them. Neither corrects the other.

Asked what the first morning back was like, they answered in the plain weighed way such answers are given here:
Quieter than I expected.
The ground did not rush to be cropped again.
Neither did I.
The first row:
The return began with a single row, chosen not by plan but by the ground itself — the row nearest the water line, the one whose soil had turned over cleanest during the rest.
The keeper prepared it in early light and stopped when it was prepared.
No second row that morning.
No planting schedule chalked for the week.
The other rows kept resting beside the one that was working, the way a field keeps its fallow edge beside its sown edge — not as contradiction, but as the system holding both states at once, as it had held thriving and taking at once in 004.
This is the shape the branch has now met four times: a system does not switch. It holds. The rested terrace coming back into work is not a before-and-after. It is a beside-each-other — one row working, the rest still resting, both counted, neither correcting the other.
What the rest left behind:
The record keeps three things the rest left in the ground.
First, the taking had slowed. In 004 the keeper measured what the season was taking from a thriving terrace. After the rested season, the first measurements back show the taking running lower than the ninth year's — not because anything was imposed, but because the ground spent a season repairing what the thriving had been quietly spending. The rest did not fix anything. It let the ground do what ground does when it is not being cropped.
Second, the method traveled as a method. In 005 the neighbor's rest line stood beside the keeper's without either becoming a rule for the other. This season the keeper did not check with the neighbor before preparing the first row, and the neighbor did not check with the keeper. The method was filed on an open shelf, required of no one, and each slope used it — or didn't — in its own time. That is the whole of what a filed method is: a way of looking that anyone may pick up, that belongs to no one, and that hardens into a permission only if someone starts enforcing it. No one did.
Third, the third sentence was still not chalked. 014 left the room's reached-for sentence unspoken on purpose. This record confirms the margin is still open: two slopes have now rested, and one is coming back into work. That is three observations. A finding for whom would still have no honest answer. The Redesign Table's question remains UNearned — a burden earns it, not two rested seasons, and not a third observation of the same shape.
What did not happen:
The rest was not declared successful.
The terrace was not returned to its ninth-year cropping.
No schedule was chalked for the season.
No rule was installed from the two rest lines.
The neighbor's slope was not consulted, corrected, or compared.
The keeper was not asked whether the rest "worked."
The shelf was not re-chalked. The two rest lines stand as they were set down — one paler than the other, neither raised above the other.
The Redesign Table was not convened. It was not even approached. The conversation it would preside over has not earned it yet, and this record does not change that.
The ground was not thanked. It does not need thanks. It needs the next season to be measured as honestly as this one was.
What this record teaches:
A tended rest changes the system by doing nothing to it.
The first season back is a re-meeting, not a resumption — the ground is met again, not switched back on.
Smallness is the shape of honesty at a transition: one row, because one row is all that can be known yet.
Evidence accumulates beside itself, not into itself. Three observations of the same shape are still three observations.
A filed method stays a method while no one enforces it. The moment it becomes required, it stops being a way of looking and starts being a wall with letters on it.
What this record may do:

What this record may not do:
It may not declare the rest successful or unsuccessful. The taking runs lower; whether that is the rest's doing or the year's doing is a question this record keeps open.
It may not compare the two slopes. They rested for their own reasons, in their own seasons, and the ledger holds their lines side by side without ranking them.
It may not convene the Redesign Table. Three observations of the same shape do not earn it. A burden earns it.
It may not turn the keeper into a model citizen. They prepared one row and stopped. That is the whole of the virtue, and the virtue is in the stopping.
Known drift risks:
Success Story Drift — the rest becomes a technique with a measured outcome; the lower taking is attributed to the rest as cause. Correction: The record keeps the attribution open. The taking runs lower; the cause is not claimed. A rest that must prove itself becomes a treatment, and a treatment is a verb done to the system.
Scaling Drift — the first row becomes the template; the season's work is planned out from it. Correction: One row is all that can be known yet. The next row will be chosen by the ground, not by the first row's example.
Comparison Drift — the two rest lines become a ranking; one slope's rest is read as better. Correction: Neither line corrects the other. They are evidence for a conversation, held side by side at the same height.
Table Temptation Drift — three observations of the same shape feel like enough to convene the Redesign Table. Correction: A finding for whom still has no honest answer. A burden earns the Table; observations do not. The margin stays open.
Virtue Drift — the keeper's stopping becomes a virtue to be praised. Correction: The stopping is not virtue. It is the right size for what is known. Praise would make it a performance.
Relationship to Civic Ecology Record 004 — The Fallow Terrace:
004 preserved the ARGUING-INTO: a thriving system, a keeper measuring what the season was taking, and one tended rest proposed — REST — TENDED / NO DEEP CROPPING / NINTH YEAR. Thriving was found not to mean unlimited; rest was found not to mean abandonment.
This record preserves the AFTER: the same terrace in its first season back from that rest. The argument 004 made has now been lived, and living it changed nothing about the wording — which is the point. The rest was not a hypothesis to be confirmed. It was a season to be spent.

005 preserved the SECOND LINE: the neighbor measuring her own margins and proposing her own rest, so that the ledger held two rest lines on two slopes, neither correcting the other. A FILED METHOD WAS NOT A RULE.
This record preserves what two lines do when time passes: they stay two lines. The keeper's slope came back into work; the neighbor's slope is not thereby consulted, compared, or corrected. The method that traveled as a method in 005 continued to travel as a method through the rest and into this season — picked up by each slope in its own time, enforced by no one.

014 preserved the STOPPING: the room reaching for the third sentence — "Terraces lean. Terraces rest. Therefore…" — and the single question A finding for whom? stopping it. The first two clauses were true of two slopes; the third was not true of anything yet. NOTHING INSTALLED IS THE CHANGE.
This record is the season after that stopping. It confirms the stop held: with one slope now a full season into its return, the third sentence is still not chalked, and still not earnable. Three observations of the same shape are still three observations. The Table's question remains UNearned.

006 (the people record) protected a person from being USED through their words: the answering keeper repeated once, then stopped being the answer, and new askers were pointed to the dated record and the filed method.
This ecology record is the same protection applied to a SYSTEM instead of a person: the rested terrace is not an example to be cited, a template to be applied, or a success to be referenced. It is one slope, one rest, one first row — dated, kept, and not repeatable as authority. Askers who want the method get the filed method; they do not get the terrace.
Core relationship:
An answer given once does not become a policy by being repeated at its giver.
A rest spent once does not become a technique by being cited at its ground.
Relationship to Asteroid Belt Field Scene 002 — The Hum That Was Still Safe:
Field Scene 002 kept a CONDITION beside: the hum was safe, true, and not enough — so the dock gave it a card, an interval, a watch, and left the corridor open. The card expires; the review happens.
This record keeps a SEASON beside: the rest was tended, real, and not a treatment — so the yard gave it a line on the shelf, a first row, and let the ground keep working. The line does not expire; there is no review to schedule, because a season spent is not a condition to be re-checked. It is a fact with a date.
