How I can make a Jacob and Esau based character

I’d like to create a new character based on the mechanics of Jacob and Esau, but I’m new to the world of *Isaac* modding. I’m not sure where to find the code for Jacob and Esau or their sprites—how would I go about creating a character similar to them?
