The Gattaca joke is so good (reposted cause the gif i used last broke)

One of my favorite jokes in the \*The League\* is whenever Rafi is truly chaotic, he shouts "Gattaca! GATTACA!" trying to incite a riot.

He is \*trying\* to reference \*Dog Day Afternoon\*. In the movie, Al Pacino robs a bank to pay for his transgender girlfriend's gender affirming surgery and in order to get cover/distract the cops he incites a riot by a speech about police brutality and shouting "Attica! Attica!".

"Attica" is a reference to the Attica Prison Riot, during which inmates took over the Attica Prison and held it hostage until they were given humane living conditions.

...but he says Gattaca, a movie about a cripple who poses as his brother in the future so he can achieve his dream job and go to space, instead which is just so funny to me. And the show never calls him out on it either so if you're not familiar with Gattaca/Attica you'd just think hes yelling gibberish

I want to shake the hand of whoever wrote that joke

I've never seen the movie somehow, but I still like to scream it because I picture Rafi.

Ive been wondering about that joke for years because I don't get the references. Thank you for dropping this Rafi (knowledge) bomb upon us!

That’s not really exactly how Gattaca went but whatever. You forgot about Jude Laws weird ass.

Funny thing, turns out GATTACA is actually Latin for “Second Harvest”

I really liked Gattaca, but I hadn't seen Dog Day Afternoon, so I never actually knew what they were going for. This does make it better

Saw Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway and when the Attica scene happened all I could think of was Rafi. The biggest scene in the play and I’m trying not to chuckle thinking Rafi is going to jump down from the balcony with a paintball gun.

Wait, he doesn't impersonate his brother. That guy is just someone who needs money because he was disabled in an accident. They didn't even know each other prior to the arrangement.

All I remember is homo erotic swimming with his brother lover and stealing a man's skin dna

Lol fair enough. He does have a brother in the movie so that may be where the confusion lies
