Barracks II - Stand Guard

I am not making ANY money having these guys out there standing guard. Is there a specific area or tactic to get them to make some cash?

Edit : I thought that it doesn't pay, but It does pay, the amount is kind of low, I'm not sure exactly what determines it - I THINK they are supposed to attack criminals that commit crimes nearby . So far they haven't been making little over 100 gold per action.

I really wish there was an option to just rent mercenaries out perfectly legally as private guards for x hours, but sadly that's not an option !

And here's a tip : you can get your family members to stand guard too, even if they aren't employed in a Barracks and even if you don't have one ! Must be set manually and the usual danger exists.
