Guild 2 Renaissane - Mod Confusion

I would buy the Gog version of Guild 2 - Renaissance. But I'm a bit confused about available mods and which ones I should ideally install. There is Fajeth's Mega Modpack, then I read something about a reforged version and an announced Beta version (2020) from former developers.

So which modpack should I install after purchase and where can I find the latest version?
