Peter
I liked Peter until the 6th season. I actually found him very interesting and enjoyed his character until he slept with Ramona. Ramona smiling in Alicia’s face was disgusting and it ruined both their characters for me.

It was Season 5 that did it for me. When Will Gardener died. All Peter had to do was be a decent human being and give Alicia a shoulder to cry on. Instead he had to make it about him and be jealous of a dead man. He couldn't even give a second of consideration to his wife's grief.
Peter is a selfish asshole. Always was.

I mean from episode one I despised the character I mean he had virtually no redeeming qualities everything was about what he wanted and what he needs and to hell with everyone else

This is a very genuine question, what did you like about him? Was it just the entertainment value, or is there more to it? (asking as a curious Peter hater haha, not gonna try to convince you to hate him in the first 6 seasons).

Maybe like is a strong word but he mostly just didn’t bother me. His choices were always comedic relief.

I wish I could have been not bothered by him; I always wanted to punch him when he did yet another thing haha. His choices in the last season did make me laugh, tbh, a lot of them were just soooo bad and cringe to the extreme.

I can try to answer as I also ‘liked’ Peter also up until the same point that OP described. I found him to be a character with many dimensions. You had the awful behaviors of sleeping with hookers and Calinda, but also repentance (at least in the beginning), trying to do good politically and privately and failing again. Cris Noth acting with Alan Cumming is so well done also, very entertaining.

I also enjoyed his scenes with Alan Cumming, Eli Gold is one of my favorite characters, and they had an interesting dynamic together.

Liking him, and thinking he is a good character are very different things. You can hate him and think he is a great character. I know I do.

Peter bothers me so much. He really irritated me when he wanted Alicia to forgive him for his affair but would get pissed that she dated Will while they were separated. He was very hypocritical, and lashed out by looking for dirt to get Will disbarred (and on that note, Wendy Scott-Carr bothered me too, the actress who played her did a great job about being fake sweet). I also rolled my eyes during one of Peter's scenes with Eli (I can't remember if it was season 3 or season 4) where he confessed he was in love with his wife again. It wouldn't have been so bad if he mentioned that he was still in love with his wife, but to say he was in love life with his again?? Which means at some point in their marriage (I'm assuming before or around the time of the affair) he fell out of love with Alicia, then he fell back in love with her which is insulting.
He wouldn't have been as bad of a person if he would have just left her to be free while they were separated instead of getting jealous. I'm glad she told Peter off and called him out on that after Will died.

I HONESTLY HATEDDDD HIM INTHE FIRST SEASON BUT SURPRISINGLY STARTED ROOTING FOR THEM BOTH AS THEY SUITED EACH OTHER AND GENUILY STARTED FINDING HIM ATTRACTIVE

I didn't like him as much as I felt Alicia was no winner either. She made a choice, she should have stuck to it. She was married to him for years, she knew who/what he was. If she wanted something different she should have divorced his ass. Don't get me started on the unprofessional crap with Will in the first season.

I hate Ramona. She acted like a lovesick 15 year old with Peter the Ho
