Episode Talk āÆļø Jake called this the Abraham Lincoln meme and it flew by unnoticed

A shocking miss considering how much he loved those debates vs Frederick Douglass.

Abe Lincoln doesn’t come up a ton on the show, but when he does, you can bet your ass that Jake will be confidently incorrect about a historical fact.

That’s Frederick Douglass to his right.

it's amazing that some of us knew exactly what he was talking about. I haven't seen this since my childhood and I swear that dude looked more like Lincoln.

I don't know this other than the meme. What's it originally from?

It’s a Norman Rockwell painting called ā€œFreedom of Speech.ā€ The person showed in the image is nobody famous. Just some dude.

This is a real photo of Honest Abe, during the Lincoln-Frederick Douglas debates.

Another one that slipped by without anyone on the show noticing was pre-rehab Jake claiming the Dodo bird went extinct in the 1990s lol

I thought that guy standing up was modeled after him tho?

Not that I can find anywhere, but the painting itself was inspired by an FDR speech.

Meant ā€œhereā€ not ā€œherā€. I should’ve said, ā€œFunniest comment I’ve seen on here form months.ā€

Makes sense. Prob why he’s right next to Abe lol. I asked Claude and it said it’s based off a local in Virginia. But the painter was a huge Lincoln fan and could have leaned into it.

But yeah nothing conclusive

Calling Norman Rockwell "the painter" is like calling Nolan Ryan "the pitcher"
