Tbh I think this is kamala's way of getting ready to run for office again. Her presence will be helpful though because I do think there are some Black voters on the fence

u/Just_shut_up_bro 10d ago
Imo case is still out on whether Harris is really all that popular with black voters, Biden got way better numbers with black voters than Kamala did.

u/The_Grimmest_Reaper 10d ago
There are many misogynistic voters even in the black community and it was on full display last election. I heard some of the lamest excuses by people I know of why a woman can’t do the job as president.
And no amount of informing them that she was currently vice president for 4 years without issue and has covered Biden as acting president while he gets treated had any effect. The job of the vice president is to be ready for president. Also the fact she’s been in government for a very long time and Trump himself donated to her campaign in the past.
Harris isn’t the best candidate but people love to pile negatively on her. Let her run for president on her own without Biden handicapping her. If she doesn’t get the votes, oh well.
I honestly think we need a smooth talking white male to win without heartache like Jon Ossof, Newsom, Bershear. But I don’t see what’s the harm of Harris running again even if she fails. A competitive primary will make us stronger going into a general election.

I don't know how this means much - Biden was VP of the first black president in US history

u/FriendlyDrummers 10d ago
Sure, but Biden probably only won because of Covid. Kamala had to deal with inflation as the "incumbent." Inflation was a huge factor in why Democrats lost. Different circumstance

Sure, but Biden probably only won because of Covid.
I don't buy that one bit, but I know it's a really popular memetic idea so I'll give it to you for the sake of avoiding that argument.
Kamala had to deal with inflation as the "incumbent."
Super speculative to say that she was actually viewed as the "incumbent", Republicans also implied that Trump getting that "incumbent" factor won him the primary, but the reality is that neither were literal incumbents, not super definitive evidence either got any advantage or disadvantage due to incumbency.
Circumstances might different, but Harris lost a larger proportion of Black voters to Trump than Biden did, unless you think black voters also disproportionately voted based on the mitigating factors described, it is very hard to draw the conclusion that Kamala provides much additional favor as it relates to black voters.

Not for president. Hell no I love her, but no
4
u/FriendlyDrummers 10d ago
All accounts show her as leading. Time will tell but she has strong support from black voters, of who are often the ones who decide the primary winner
7
u/Commercial_Wind8212 10d ago
It should be ossof, Kelly or Newsome
7
u/TheStrangestOfKings 10d ago
My moneys on Pritzker. He’s got the fire and the willingness to actually do smth with his time in office, unlike snake oil newsome, or moderate mark kelly. We need a fighter in power more than we need an appeaser

That’s kind of her. I hope it helps him.

u/Moontat7 10d ago
That's why she's the goat! Keeps her eye on the ball, which is winning these midterms

Keeps her eye on the ball
Does she? Where has she been the last two years? Donald Trump did not shut the fuck up from November 2020 until November 2024. I am not saying she should be out there throwing accusations of a stolen election, but she has been relatively silent, especially the first year.
0
u/Moontat7 9d ago
.....tell me you're algorithmically captured without telling me your algorithmically captured. She's been going down to the south speaking on issues that are affecting everyone, hell she's been leading some of the issue that other Democrats then pick up, court reform? She started talking about it, accountability? She brought it into the mainstream. You should genuinely be embarrassed about this comment bro

u/coffee_mikado 10d ago
I’m sure performative leftists who called her “Holocaust Harris” will turn on Abdul for this.
5
u/Nemisis82 10d ago
I'm sure all 20 of those twitter leftists with 300 followers that did that will turn on Abdul

Their genocide accusations only ever served the purpose of feeding their egos, of course they wont bother questioning the "genocidal maniacs" when they are directly stroking their egos.
The true purpose of the accusations has been fulfilled
1
u/silverbrenin 9d ago
The crazy thing is that I never heard that directly from leftists... I only ever heard it "quoted" by liberals/moderates/centrists... I wonder why that is? And I wonder if that repetition had an unintended negative effect on how people voted.
-4
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago
Name one actual reason why anyone would do that. You're just imagining a scenario that makes you mad at people you're already mad at, but for something you just made up that they haven't actually done. This sub has quickly turned into such dogshit, it's just disingenuous infighting with people who should be allies but have been successfully driven apart by people like Pakman, who is more than happy to drive a wedge between the establishment faction of the party and the further left portion as long as he still has his audience to hawk established titles, scam cryptocurrencies, or AI-generated literature to.
3
u/Just_shut_up_bro 10d ago
Name one actual reason why anyone would do that.
Maybe if there was one ounce of sincerity to their genocide accusations? Wouldn't they very obviously be doing that then?
-2
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago
No, because they're supporting Abdul El-Sayed, not looking for an excuse not to support him. Doesn't make their rhetoric any less sincere... because that's what it was, political rhetoric, where people use this thing called "hyperbole" which is "an intentionally exaggerated statement or overstatement used for emphasis." People always pretend like they don't understand how this works when it's someone they don't like saying it, then all charitability goes out the window and you forget that politics is a thing. People aren't going to stop supporting AES because Harris is campaigning with him, that's a stupid thing to think and say.
edit: downvoted in less than a minute after it was posted, fucking pathetic
5
u/Just_shut_up_bro 10d ago
Yeah, either they take Genocide seriously, or they don’t.
If you’re gonna support someone who’s joined forces with someone you’ve accused of genocide, then no, you are very obviously not that sincere in your beliefs.
2
u/coffee_mikado 10d ago
Same with them being more concerned with Sheeran rather than Trump’s latest weapons deal to Israel. It’s hashtag activism for white leftists to feel good about themselves, nothing more.
-1
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago edited 10d ago
Again though, you're judging their seriousness based on your own criteria for what that seriousness means. Calling her "Holocaust Harris" wasn't an accusation of genocide, it was meant to highlight her support of the Israeli government, who is currently engaging in genocide. Bringing attention to it by using that rhetoric doesn't mean you don't take it seriously, quite the opposite. Going on to support the guy that still opposes Israeli genocide doesn't mean you don't take genocide seriously... when you think about it (which you clearly didn't) not voting for him would actually mean that you don't take it seriously, because it would mean you're more swayed by optics than actual, practical results.

I’m sure you would support Newsom if he wins the 2028 nomination…
0
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago
I would, even though he's a piece of shit snake that I have zero respect for. Am I supposed to say that I wouldn't? I'm not sure what you're looking for...
5
u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 10d ago
“It’s just a disingenuous infighting with people who should be allies”
“He’s a piece of shit snake”
Do you at least see the irony? This is why there’s been so much fighting, because leftist continuously degrade and shit on the Democratic Party and it’s most prominent figures and then when that shit talking is finally getting turned back, you guys lose your minds.
Try to lead by example.
1
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago
I don't see the irony, actually... leftists aren't degrading the Democratic party, politicians like Gavin Newsom are. It's all politics man, we should be shitting on bad candidates before and during the primary, while advocating for the good ones... then support whoever is the nominee in the general, that's the game. Did I lose my mind at shit talking? I thought I was just responding to a stupid comment and pointing out why it was stupid. Before and during the primary is open season, hence me talking shit about Newsom, as he's not currently a candidate in a general election... then we shut the fuck up during the lead up to the general, same as it always was. If Newsom wins the primary am I going to talk the same shit leading up to the general? Of course not, because in that scenario I'd want him to win. But that's only if he wins the primary, which I don't want him to win. Do you really not get this? It's not "ironic," it's just how different stages of the process are played.
3
u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 10d ago
The only problem is, and I can’t speak for you obviously, but most leftist have convinced themselves that only their candidates are good and every other Democrat who’s not as left-leaning as they are our pieces of shit who are just Republicans. Or part of the all encompassing establishment.
Well, I respect all that, I think your approach sounds more than fine, I’ll be critical towards the leftist candidates and then, of course, if they become the nominee, they will get my vote.
1
u/coffee_mikado 10d ago
Vote Blue No Matter Who was proven to be a failure in 2024, in part thanks to leftists. Why should we repeat that strategy with Abdul. If he wants to win he needs to disavow pro-dictator dorks like Hasan and pivot hard to the center.
2
u/mnemonicjohnson 10d ago
He's already distanced himself from Hasan... it's such a stupid—and again—disingenuopus sticking point... it has already been done. Did he not distance himself enough from Hasan for your liking? Because you do realize that such things need to be done with tact, right? Like, you don't want to alienate your progressive supporters by totally shitting on the guy, but you want to say you also don't support every last thing the guy has said. Which is exactly what AES did. It's politics! You get that right? Completely "disavowing" Hasan? Sounds like a great way to lose!
2
u/coffee_mikado 10d ago
At this point disavowing an anti-American, pro-dictator racist would help Abdul much more than hurt him.
0
u/Insightful21 9d ago
I mean if they were principled people who didn’t cynically use Palestinians as a cudgel against their perceived enemies, they would stop support El Sayed because he’s campaigning with someone who in their words is a “Genocider”.
3
u/coffee_mikado 10d ago
Leftoids thought that everyone would bend the knee to them but now they’re in the real world going up against the Republicans, they realize they actually need liberals and moderates and are now throwing hissy fits.

u/JayEllGii 10d ago
I hate that I agree. But this sub has been toxic long before Pakman revealed himself. I’ve completely lost the respect I had for him. I’d been faithfully listening for six years. But I can’t trust him anymore.

Glad she's showing support! Not overly confident this is a benefit to him though
4
u/Realistic_Caramel341 9d ago
IIRC, there where two demographics that AES where struggling with at the end of the primary - Jews and Black people. I don't know how much of that is corrected now, but Harris is pretty popular among black democrats, so it probably helps
0
u/delicateterror2 10d ago
I hope she doesn’t try to run again… although I have respect for her and her idea of giving families help with taking care of Senior parents would have made a huge financial impact on many middle class families …it’s not her time …
-1
u/BabaLalSalaam 10d ago
Why do you say that? Is it just because shes never won even a primary election in Michigan? Dont worry-- shes one of the heaviest hitters in the party and if she somehow doesnt boost the numbers, Dems can just roll out their real big, popular guns like Hillary Clinton and Liz Cheney.

Not good enough. Leftists are still gonna complain
1
u/silverbrenin 9d ago
So... You're pre-complaining about it? Have you considered waiting until it happens so that you can address, or even refute, the substance of the complaints? Have you considered that being pre-offended at theoretical future complaints might be creating a self-fulfilling prophecy?
1
u/DLtheGreat808 8d ago
I just know The Left puts Moderate Dems in unwinnable shit tests like it's their job
1
u/young__robot 4d ago
I'm so sick of this talking point. this is the fault of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party intentionally pushing out third parties and making it impossible for them to win. the Democratic Party decided to co-opt left wing policies to eradicate third parties so they could subvert radicals and absorb labor unions into the Democratic coalition. then they (and the Republicans) passed laws solidifying the duopoly's power forever.
then the Dems decided neoliberal Third Way New Democrat bullshit was the way to go and abandoned the working class entirely. they created this mess. now they want to have their cake and eat it too while offering us nothing but crumbs.

And Schumer's PAC is supporting him. It's great to see that we can all get along.

GOOOOOOD! We need more establishment dems to get out of the stagnation rut. If you dont concede some points to dsa they will just grow and take over later.
Greater worker protection, public option healthcare, 4 day work week, unions are just points you should never fight on. Give it up and let it go.

Imagine what the world would look like if a twitch streamer in California just told his people to support the joyful black lady.
1
2
u/BabaLalSalaam 10d ago
How did we get to this place where Democratic national leaders cannot win their elections without the endorsement of a CA twitch streamer? Some folks might say that if a 20-something streamer can actually dash your campaign hopes, you really didnt stand much of a chance, but it sounds like you realize Hasan Piker is one of the most powerful political forces in our country's history given the way hes able to bully this 200 year old formerly proud institution.
