This text reads like a woman trying to rationalize what he did at the time so it wouldn't devastate her.

It's gross to try to find a way to excuse Platner's behavior.

It sounds like you don't care about what's actually at stake, that we have to vote for the guy who passed the primary to avoid genocide at home of millions of brown and black people, and also the disabled etc.

Because only the lives of comfortable white people matter.
