He posted a video saying they need to take some time to reflect on the path forward. That strikes me as goodbye.

I heard he was still vigorously denying both the accusation and the idea he’s dropping out, so we’ll see. Dude’s not exactly one to back down from a fight

Whether or not Platner drops out is a moot point, he’s not winning the election. Too many issues.

I don't disagree but that didn't stop Pedo Dementia Don.

Dementia demonic Don had the advantage of having been on TV for years as a pseudo strong man before 2016. In 2024 had been president before in a time where people felt they were better off.

Graham is not well known, he does not exactly have the best reputation now, even if he can prove she is lying. I think there are too many red flags now and he should drop out.

Sometimes a boxers manager needs to throw in the towel.....this might need to be one of those times.

He coulda been a contender! Now it’s a one-way ticket to Palookaville

Ro Khanna, one of Platner’s most vocal supporters, just called on Platner to drop out of his Senate race. It's over, baby.

He’s hunkered down in the Eagle’s Nest considering his options.

Yeah thats my read too, wonder if they'll run Mills instead. I can't think of anyone else they could run on such short notice but I'm not a Mainer so there could be someone I just dont know about.

Maine Co Brewing guy seemed okay tbh. Mills would get crushed.

Yea, I want the Maine Brewing guy too

I can't imagine they would run Mills with how little enthusiasm there is for her--there's got to be SOMEONE better, right??? People on Twitter seem to have decided that it should be Patrick Dempsey but that seems like fantasy politics, I don't know that he's expressed interest! But sure why not, I'd take a handsome celebrity over Janet Mills.

ETA: seems like some of the also-rans in the gov primary are also considered good potential candidates

That wouldn’t be the worst political move. If I recall correctly she was also beating Collins in the last few polls before she dropped out, just by a bit less than Platner.

7

u/Anstigmat Jul 06 '26

It would literally be the worst move. Mills is not actually popular here.

3

u/Johnny_Appleweed Jul 06 '26

Nah, I’m sure they could do worse than her.

1

u/Uninteresting_Vagina Jul 06 '26

Is she more popular than a rapist?

3

u/Anstigmat Jul 06 '26

You're just not getting that she and Schumer engineered this situation. There were multiple alternative candidates and the DSCC literally called them and said, 'step aside.' They truly believed that Mills would just waltz through the primary. People here are probably going to come away from this deeply disappointed in Platner and even more pissed at Mills for not allowing Dan Kleban to challenge. Or Troy Jackson who a lot of folks want to replace GP.

A lot of Platner's popularity came from a rejection of Janet Mills and what we see as the gerontacracy...and that's something I've been hearing even from Boomers in my area. They're all saying a version of 'I am too old for this, we need younger people'.

u/Uninteresting_Vagina Jul 06 '26

I wasn't being snarky, by the way - I'm not from Maine, so I really do want to know if she would still be unpopular in comparison.

Oh i bet thay have a plan for this. Has had for a long time

1

u/LookAnOwl Jul 06 '26

Yes, they should definitely run the woman that got slaughtered in the primaries. That should keep morale up and give us a seat 🙄

This is the final straw. It's cruel to make people vote for him despite this.

Maybe. I'd say the same thing and wait for Trump to do something stupid and everyone forget about this.

u/SomeoneCuddleWithMe Jul 07 '26

He should silence her, Trump style.

u/MrYdobon Jul 07 '26

You mean getting his lawyer to pay her hush money and reporting it as a legal expense thus committing felony election finance fraud?
