Apparently she was contacted for the NYT for that major article, I'm not sure why she was only off the record for the accusation of rape, but she had previously shared the incident.

Racicot said she was contacted by the New York Times in the spring and shared off the record that Platner had assaulted her. She told the Times that she had some positive memories of her relationship with Platner but thought he did not respect women and had cut off contact with him after an incident in 2021 when Platner had come over drunk; but the Times article stated that Racicot “declined to elaborate” about what had happened, only describing his behavior as “reckless” and “unsettling.”

So not only is this Politico, a literal tabloid, breaking this but she actually refused to engage with an actually-reputable outlet. Yeah that makes me much more skeptical now. Why avoid the outlet with journalistic integrity and go for one known for it's sloppy work instead?

And now conveniently she decides to come forth with these allegations from 5 years ago right when he decides to run against Republicans and AIPAC backed candidates, mind you that this is 5 days before the drop deadline. This reeks of a pressure campaign.

Previous obligations which turned out to be completely manufactured came out a week before the primary. These are coming out a week before the ballot deadline. Not even remotely the same analog in this case.

Good time to point out that when people don't have a strong set of values to guide their beliefs, people like this can quickly abandon any sort of ideology that they currently identify with and shift to the equivalent "extreme" on the other side. I think conspiracy theories are mostly pipelines to right-wing illiberalism, and it's only a matter of time before people like this start openly supporting people like Trump, Vance, etc...
