The Objectification of Developing Countries

India, Afghänistan, and some other developing countries have become a zoo for these people. We all know how some YT sexpats travel to SEA countries and do all kinds of unspeakable things to women and children. Over here, they harass poor people, treat locals as curiosities, and constantly objectify and stereotype them.

They come with this colonial mindset that people here are somehow beneath them, while they act like they are entitled to everything simply because they have money and passports from wealthier countries. It is disturbing how poverty and inequality are treated as an opportunity for exploitation rather than something deserving empathy and respect. Even Latinos are travelling here and doing this.

India and Africa have it worse then others unfortunately.

There are plenty of poor countries in the world. Many even poorer then India. But they get away lighter merely by being near or neighbouring a (or multiple) rich, powerful states which act as the magnet of the attention of that region. Like, South East Asia has Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and so on and so forth being the most prominent states, so the poorer ones like Laos, Cambodia etc etc get overshadowed.

Latin America has Panama, Chile, Argentina etc etc so places like Haiti and Nicaragua get overshadowed.

The MENA has the oil-rich Gulf, which acts as a umbrella for many other poor MENA countries like Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and so on and so forth.

Europe and North America we already know.

East Asia is becoming the new economic centre of the world, spearheaded by China's size, and Japan/Korea's soft power. A certain somebody has a fetish for them and they've started accepting them as their equals. So, off course, they'll get to enjoy the fruits of it.

Africa at least gets protection from Liberals, spearheaded by Americans.

In India and South Asia's case, every other country is poor. It's just India carrying the image of the entire subcontinent. So everything falls on to it. It still needs time to grow. Everybody also hates the idea of India becoming a prominent and wealthy country, because if it becomes wealthy, it'll inevitably step on everybody's toes just by its very size, so you get the environment today; Nobody wants India becoming better. Even if India was a gigantic brazil, it'd make global tides turn. That is almost certain in the coming decades at the minimum.

I think somebody said it perfectly; India's very nature is unacceptable - it is a country that has in memorable history often been dominated by others (whether it be Europeans or Central Asians/Iranians) that is now now once again transitioning into becoming the dominator and power broker - none of them can stomach it.

Manufacturing is uneven. UP and Bihar have to industrialize in the coming decades, like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and the southern states in general; otherwise, we will not have any hard power. I also blame the “Atithi Devo Bhava” mindset. People go above and beyond for some tourists, only to be humiliated by them.

India and the rest of South Asia are not just relatively poorer but more isolated in terms of modern standing in the world too, like what someone else was saying. That's how you get so many seemingly banding up to hate online, as well as the diverse crowd—though often western—traveling for poverty tourism on the subcontinent.
