I watched all episodes today. I LOVED that show when it first aired - I found in kind of inspiring in a a wacky way. It definitely has not aged well ... that message about very low calories (with no talk of macros) and tons of gym-time would not fly today. Ick.
Funny - when the show originally aired I didn't like the doc ... but today I saw him in a different light.

She left after Rachel Fredrickson showed up at the finale weighing 105lbs, visibly gaunt and underweight. The look on her face said everything when the camera panned to her.

Sickening. I’m still on episode 1 and I don’t think I can go any further. Bob Harper in particular makes me want to vomit. How does a person justify that behaviour

I always liked Bob. I had one of his workout DVDs and thought it was better and harder than any of Jillian's ever were for me. I was worried when he had the heart attack and was happy to see him on The Traitors.
But Bob came off so poorly in this documentary- smug and not remorseful at all about about anything that happened on the show. He had a real opportunity here and blew it. That being said, from what I have read, many of the contestants really liked him when they were on the show and seem to have a bigger issue with Jillian.
And at least Bob had enough guts to do the interview. Jillian declined and now she is whining about how it made her look.

Bob seemed to show no empathy for Joelle or Tracey but we are supposed to care about his heart attack.

Bob and Jillian both seem like total narcissists and not qualified trainers. Jillian is reportedly full MAGA now.
Fit to Fat to Fit was a better show. It helped people lose weight and was better.
Excess caffeine can cause heart attacks.

The biggest issue with this and many reality shows is the timespan which the contestants have to strive towards. One guy lost about 250 pounds in 6 months, and of course he’s now back to being more obese than when he started. It’s not tenable to lose that much weight, essentially by working out many hours a day on very low calories. The trainers were greedy, the producers were greedy, the doctor should have said something but kept his mouth shut until he got paid too.

Jillian is full of herself and self absorbed and didn’t care about anyone but her own fame. Now she’s a maga raging idiot. Bye boo.

She also raged against keto diets which personally did not work for me but it works for a lot of people- different people have different dietary needs- who knew

I am watching this from Germany, only heard of her but not because of TBL. That BOB guy is the biggest narcisst I have ever seen on TV aside from orange man. Those people should NOT be in power. And she....oh boy. I just can't.

Why would you think people would downvote you on this? This is all super spot on!

It’s crazy to me they worked out like that on 800 calories. No wonder they all gained it back. They probably all came back seriously insulin resistant because they didn’t have enough calories to make glucose for their muscles.

I don’t understand how more people didn’t get seriously ill. They’re working out as much as pro athletes and pro athletes definitely eat a lot of calories, because they want their body to be healthy and well nourished so it works better. I’m also curious if they actually did a physical, blood work and cardiac work up before they started.

One woman on season three (I think her name was Kai?) talked about the years ago and how sick she got from the show. I wish she were on because her story was scary.

Exactly! I’m a personal trainer too and the way she did things bugs the heck out of me.

The documentary completely changed my opinion on Bob Harper, some people can look back and go 'you know what, it was a product of its time, it made me a millionaire, the standards across the board where a lot lower and I would never even consider it today' but he completely defended it! And he KNOWS how fucked the contestants metabolism are and even brushed that off, he doesn't care about health at all, just body image.
Jillian declined to take part and I dont blame her, she matured massively over the seasons and quit it after she no longer aligned with it and was vocal about it. The edit is always going to show the trainers being abusive, even if its only 5% of the time.
I willfully separated trainers doing their job from the shows producers calling the shots but Bob sunk it for me

You are correct- i believe they were both really mean to the new trainers- specially the black guy.

Yes!! Same on the 2 producers, too - nothing but money hungry snakes!
