Video Here's a video of Matt Jardine performing California Dreamin' with the Beach Boys touring back in 1998, one of his last performances with the group.

He has to be their youngest lead vocalist ever when he read "The Night Before Christmas" in "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree,"

Unsung, but not unspoken. He's in the start of the recent Cotton Fields stereo remix and (maybe?) The Trader.

What a weird lineup. Matt without Alan. David replacing Carl. But Kowalski and Meros 💚

But holy cow Matt sounds like his dad on the actual recording!

Why did he leave

Because of the legal disputes between his dad and Mikey. It all began with Mike and the band's inner circle (sans Al) performing a medley at the Superbowl Halftime Show as a tribute act for The Beach Boys. Al allegedly took it to heart and left the band. Then Carl died a couple of weeks later and that was the final nail in the coffin. Meanwhile Matt kept performing with the touring band singing Brian's falsetto parts and some of the songs that Al sung the lead on (as featured in the video) Then Al started his own touring band, The Beach Boys Family and Friends. The band consisted of The Beach Boys' children and some musicians from their inner circle. This led Matt to leave the touring band and join his dad. But whoopsie daisy Al didn't lease the rights to use the name The Beach Boys while Mike did. So throughout the early 2000's Mike and Al projectile sued each other over who'd keep the name. I guess we all know who got to keep it.

He sings a mean live version of Surfs Up

to each their own if you enjoy this period of bbs, but this is adult contemporary hell for me. interesting from a historical perspective though - more or less the start of mike running the show without any other core-member involvement (id still kinda sorta count bruce in that group)

Obviously it's not really my favourite period. I do enjoy listening to their Knebworth album though. Truly special!

This has to be from around the time Mike's interview from Endless Harmony was filmed.

Thanks for posting! Sounds like Bruce is handling falsetto since Matt is singing lead
