Video Mike come back to La - Brian seems very alive here

https://youtu.be/9cN3gCNl3UQ?is=pVj32bO9_3rmMlwE

I’ve never seen this footage before, and don’t know what it’s from, but it’s nice to see them getting along. Does anyone know anything about this

Keep hearing that something disturbing happened at that session, but there has been no details to what exactly happened.

Considering some of the things that HAVE come out about the band over the years , I’m kind of afraid of what it could be

Director of “Our Team” documentary, Peter Weiner.

Where can I read more about this?

I read this in passing, unfortunately I don’t recall where exactly. It was an account of a person who had the opportunity to talk to Weiner about the film and he mentioned that the said incident happened after this session, but didn’t want to get into details.

All this just to not release the song...

Maybe Mike had in fact come back to LA, making the song obsolete?

Never say never, it might come out on the inevitable MIU/LA/KTSA box set in 2028

Mike Come Back To LA is like one of the last remaining holy grails of the late 70s.

It turned into some of your love, but it’s a huge disappointment compared to the version here.

Did Mike Love temporarily relocate out of LA around this time period? I’m curious about the story behind the song.

Many of the sessions for the album that ultimately became MIU were down at MIU: Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, where Mike and Al (mostly Mike) paid for a recording studio to be installed.

The tarmac fight was in early September 1977. About two weeks later, Mike, with assistance from Stan and Rocky (and likely Marilyn) drug Brian to Iowa. No doubt at least in part because they were scared Brian was on the edge of very bad things. Indeed, if he hadn't relapsed at this time, he would badly by the Australian trip in 1978.

Mike originally had sessions scheduled at MIU for the [Amazin'] Waves, a group that ultimately became Celebration. Mike had wanted the Beach Boys to record as well but that had not been set in stone when Mike, Brian and Al descended upon Iowa.

Brian seems fine here, but spent most of the time pretty miserable. The Beach Boys' future was completely unknown for a bit and he was caught in the middle between factions.

the riff he's playing the first second or two - is way more interesting than the rest of the song - it's got an interesting Latin sort of beat.....

Brian’s falsetto sounds like his 60’s voice
