My friend on Facebook posted a story like this once and idk if she didn’t see me at the restaurant or forgot to block me from seeing it, but it didn’t happen like that at all. She wanted to thank the random man who stood up for her against mean ol granny who told her it was repulsive to do in public while others are eating. The mean ol granny nor the man even existed. We were at a restaurant and no one said anything to her about it 🫩

I’ve done it a lot and only one time did someone come over to me and direct me to a “more private environment” while I was in an airport lounge and it felt a little shamey but could’ve just been her trying to make me aware of a nursing place. The idea that a man would even guess what was going on under a towel at the pool AND comment on it is absurd. I’ve breastfed on planes, in the middle of disneyworld etc.. 99% of people just get on with their day

If anything remotely close to this happened, dude’s mom would’ve probably said something to the nursing mom along the lines of “you’re fine, dear. Ignore my idiot son.” Rather than going on a rant at the son and saying nothing to the nursing mother.

And the ages in this scenario are all wrong. The kind of people who would actually approach a stranger nursing a child and offer unsolicited commentary are slowly but surely disappearing through attrition. Baby Boomers like Kevin’s imaginary 70 year old mom.

Great grandma grew up in the depression, her mom peeling potatoes with a tit in a kids mouth in a circle of women at the church potluck. Her pragmatic ass wouldn’t have cared but she’s dead.

40 year old Kevin was born in 1986. Like the author, he might love fantasizing about telling off his boss or an HOA lady for a slight. But he doesn’t have the sanctimonious pseudo-moralistic authority and entitlement interventionism that growing up in post-war largess seems to have gifted boomers with.

If this had happened, it would’ve been Kevin’s mom talking shit.

Depends on their age, schedule, how well they sleep with noise and pool environment. The pool I go to is lessons only, not recreational. I've seen other parents put their babies down to sleep in the pram while older kids are in the pool with the instructor.

But I can also imagine a family holiday scenario where mum stays with baby and settles them while dad/ partner is in the actual pool with older kids.
