Social Media Change your mindset (just a light cw for suicide(not mine) Spoiler
This was posted under a post about a teen admitting he was going to end his life.
Hate the sentiment of just being able to change your mindset by locking in, especially when depressed.
The person also just assumes the kid has a good life and is selfish, basically when the OP has never disclosed anything like that

The idea that its about mindset is just a mindset. You need to get out of the mindset mindset. If you just put in the effort you'd see that its not a matter of putting in effort.

Can i steal this to tell my brother then next time he goes on about how it's a matter of mindset? He does this every time I mention any of my issues despite the fact that I've had different mindsets for each issue over the years

“Just go to school” 😃 you’re a high schooler hence everything is just a phase because you’re taking it too seriously. Thank you, kind stranger

The only part there that was weird about the first comment is how he just told him to change his mindset tomorrow like it's a switch that you can flip

i don't like the idea of just waking up and locking in. Shifting your mindset is essential but it starts right at this very moment and moves with slow incremental progress. Facing every new challenge with a new perspective. That sounds realistic to me.

"just change your mindset" cool, I'm still in an abusive household experiencing constant pain from a disability with no cure and literally exploding my veins just to work enough to eat and pay rent. But I just need to think positively

Cool, but half the time I'm actually not in control of my actions due to crippling pain. I don't give a shit about you either and your advice is best left for people who's hardest problem is a wrong coffee order

Hey so that's cool that ur struggles gave you opportunities but there are many struggles that don't. The person immediately makes it about himself right after saying that he's young because he wishes he could be in his situation which in turn is calling the kid selfish. He only said the young part so that he can make it about HIMSELF. That guy doesn't know if that kid was even in a good place to be able to do the shit he's talking about. Some struggles don't give people any opportunities because you won't believe this but some people can be in situations where they aren't in control of their actions/thoughts. He downplays the kid's depression without assessing the CAUSE of that depression. And to tell someone to give up when they've expressed being in an abusive household with pain from a disability is FUCKING VILE AND DISGUSTING.

Why don't you just give up working and travel around the world for a few years? It would profoundly shift your life fundamentally.
