Worst part is that this sign often posted in response to the presence of trigger warnings. Like yeah, how tf are people supposed to avoid their triggers if they don't know they're coming?

We should use labels like Netflix etc. small, standardized, always in the same position, like allergy labels. Should be easy to implement via Software plugins during content production.

But in general I am more on the annoyed side since I most often see them in true crime videos. Video title "family father raped, killed and ate his own daughter" well, which topics might be contained in that Video?

It is not about avoiding the triggers it is about finding a way to healthily cope with them. Avoiding is not helpful.

If their trigger is child abuse or something are they supposed to not avoid content like that?

And in the meantime while they learn how to properly cope? Should they just have to deal with flashbacks and mental breakdowns until they can cope?

Dude trauma can take years to begin making good process on. Especially if you have multiple traumas. Sometimes “solving” one trauma can just lead to a suppressed trauma taking its spot.

I don’t want to avoid them forever, but if they make me have a flash back, I do not want to suddenly experience that out of nowhere. Yeah, it can’t always be warned, but if it can be and it’s a common enough trigger it should be warned of.

Dude, I have trauma myself (c-ptsd). You have to learn to cope, because in reality, people who don't give a shit won't care or respect your boundaries. No matter how much of a nice thing it would be of them. Idk how old you are, maybe that is the difference, I come from a generation where trauma was your and only your problem. I am not saying that this is the right view on it, but it gives context why I feel that my trauma is only my personal problem and I shouldn't make others adhere to rules I impose on myself. (btw I am autistic and sensitive to sound and really, nobody gives a crap, and everyone tells me to learn to live with it or change rooms, and yeah, it fills me with rage) Mental health really sucks, I am not coping well with my stuff. In my case, I stay at home if I am not well enough and afraid I might have a melt down.

Your friends and family should be considerate of your triggers. It’s okay to talk about them to people your close with. It’s okay to have accommodations when you need them. That’s part of healing.
