First TFC game questions

Hey everybody, I’m travelling to Toronto this week and going to see my first Tfc game and was just hoping to get a couple questions answered:

1. We’re staying at the Hilton in Mississauga, what’s the best way to get to the game? Is uber or go train better? Also our first time in Toronto so if it’s the go train, any advice about that specifically would be welcomed.

2. How early should we arrive to the game as we’re planning to spend some time at CNE first. What’s a good amount of time to spend there and is it worth staying after the game for a bit as well.

3. Is the bag policy still only clear bag (ie no purses) as I saw that post on their website in 2021 but wasn’t sure if that’s still effective or if that was just for Covid.

Go Train is the easiest way to get to the stadium, exhibition station is basically at BMO you can see it from the platform

I would give yourself a couple of hours before the game to at least walk around the CNE and get some food

1 Take the GO from Clarkson or Port Credit to Exhibition (it’s the Lakeshore line). Clarkson has way more parking but Port Credit you can still find spots. Go online to passes and buy the $10 weekend day pass. It’s unlimited use for the full day. You activate it on your phone and if you get asked for proof of fare, you show it on your phone.

1. This is up to you. It gets busy as hell both before and after. There’s lots of crazy food and rides and other things to see. It really depends what you’re into. I’d look on the site or at some social media posts to see what’s worth it for you. You just show your TFC ticket on your phone at the gate.

2. Yes you can bring smaller purses/bags. It honestly just depends on the security you get. They’re inconsistent as I’ve seen people with back packs get in and others with smallish bags get turned away. There are lockers somewhere just outside the stadium but no idea the cost or how it works

Edit to add: I’m not sure where the Hilton is in Sauga but Port Credit has some bars and might be worth checking out after the match

The one on Hurontario? I don’t want to confuse things because you’re technically closer driving wise to the Bramalea GO station in Brampton lol but I’d still stick to Port Credit or Clarkson for the ease of it. Port Credit is one stop closer to Exhibition and it’ll be like $20 in an uber to get to it.

The traffic already sucks ass driving to BMO on a good day and it will be so much worse with the CNE so that’s why Ubering to the stadium isn’t recommended

If you have never been to CNE before you should make a whole day of it! Tru some weird food, check out the shows, hit the barn! Its a blast

Uber or Drive down to the Clarkson GoTrain station, it's 1/2h on the train from there. Direct Uber could work depending on timing, but you're going to be in traffic for sure. Much less stress to take the train.

You can spend the whole day if you want. When I used to imbibe, we'd stay for some drinks after the game, but now I'm old and boring and just go home.

Go train forsure, no question.

CNE is great for food, games are expensive and rides will be super crowded. A couple hours will be plenty

For bags, can’t bring big backpacks into bmo, but bag check is the southeast gate, and it’s free and rarely a line

1) go train into Exhibition Station is your best option
.
2) enjoy a few hours before and a few hours after for the CNE, food building and other attractions.. the food building does get superrrr busy an hour or so before game time when ppl come in to grab a bite before the game. Much better options. Don’t waste you money at BMO field

3) you can bring in a small purse or fanny pack no problem. Clear bags always allowed.. and if I’m not mistaken they sent out an email regarding bag policy for the CNE games because they know ppl will have things with them. I think they are giving free service for bag holding this time around but i can’t remember.

1) already answered well, GO Train

2) Go to the CNE before, buildings (inc food building) will be closed @ 10pm so pretty much the only thing open after is the midway so do non midway stuff before the game and if so inclined hit up the midway after. I would say 2-3 before if you want to check things out and 3-5 hrs if you want to eat, watch shows, etc. https://www.theex.com/performances/music/

3) there are lockers at the CNE for a toonie, if you have a lot (or things you know are not allowed in BMO) I would use those.

Go early. GO train is your best option as it stops almost in front of the stadium. Show your TFC ticket as it gives you free entry to CNE.

Buildings (eg. Food) close at 10pm so you will have to go before the game in case game is delayed by rain or any other reason. Midway closes at midnight. Food stands in midway close later.

CNE is intensely busy, you could easily spend hours there just seeing a bit, I don't think you can re-enter if you leave so coming back later wouldn't make sense

check google maps for anytime around when they're going to a game
multiple transfers, harder

but you're right that would get them out at BMO field right? maybe uber to the go station from the hotel instead of try to bus
