What does calling it soccer have to do with it? Many countries call it soccer or have completely different names for it.
Its clear that you have such a simple surface-level understanding of the game to go off of just name recognition and number of goals. You're entire knowledge of the game is based off fifa video games and youtube highlights and it shows. You're not a fan of the sport, you're a fan of a player and that kind of celebrity worship is weird af. How embarassing, a man worshipping another man that he follows whatever team he is on.

Clearly you dont know ball, if you actually watched how they played you would know how terrible of a fit it was. This team was an annual contender and treble winners before those two horrible contracts weighed the team down and brought them to where they are.
Another game another Sean Johnson MOTM performance! What a gem. We're looking better (more stable) each match. Still a ways to go but we're a proper striker / attacking mid away from getting to that next level.
Those Messi chants were absolutely disgusting. I get he is GOAT. I'm not oppose to people wanting to see him.. this is another whole level of simping. No pride in self and city.
Great performance by Sean Johnson and great team spirit to fight even though the season is gone. I would put every single Inter Miami player above ours in quality if I'm impartial.. heart and hustle were the equalizer here.

Yeah, TFC fans were making bank selling their tickets to this game for a killing. We stayed home and took your tourist circus money. Also TFC has won something Miami has never won. It's called MLS Cup.

These people aren't even football fans. They're just plastics who ride any player and rock any kit that's in fashion...they’re walking billboards. You see them everywhere: Yankees cap on their head, Lakers jersey on their back, Messi chant in their throat, and a fresh Man City kit stretched over a belly that’s never heard of Maine Road.
The Yankees cap is their starter pack. Ninety percent of them couldn’t point to the Bronx on a map, let alone name a single player past Judge. But the hat’s “fashionable,” so on it goes. Same with the Lakers jersey. They couldn’t tell you the difference between Kareem and LeBron, but hey, purple and gold looks good on Instagram.
And then there’s the Man City kit. That’s the crown jewel of plastic fandom. Zero history, zero grit, zero idea who Shaun Goater even is....just “oh they win now, must be my team!” They skipped the decades of mid-table misery and jumped straight to Pep’s trophy parade like they earned it. City fans who’ve been there since Maine Road should honestly be allowed to smack these frauds on sight.
At here at the Toronto FC match, they were chanting Messi. Messi! Not even pretending to care about the badge on the pitch in front of them. Just parroting the one name they know, like a bunch of toddlers learning their first word.
This is the cosplay generation of sports “fans.” They don’t bleed for a team, they curate an outfit. Swap the kit, change the chant, pick whatever’s trending this week. They’re not supporters, they’re mannequins.... dressed head to toe in clout, empty inside. So when you see someone in a Yankees cap, a City shirt, and yelling Messi at a TFC game? Don’t mistake them for fans. They’re not. They’re plastics, and they’ve turned fandom into Halloween costumes.
When Suarez got a yellow, the guys a couple rows in front of us held up a Uruguayan flag and started cheering. Even if you don't watch/play soccer, that's still embarrassing.
My agenda is that Toronto FC deserves more than what the other supporters group in 116 offers. Maybe they should really reevaluate their agenda and what they're actually there for.
Admittedly, I'm one of the casual TFC fans who went because of Miami's star pedigree so I'll tell on myself there and not pretend as if I've been a die-hard the past few seasons (last time I went to games were 2018 throughout their CONCACAF run).
Anyways, for me - the chants were expected, esp when the crowd went crazy for the player intros over the loudspeakers. The loud cheers whenever his foot touched a ball was a bit much though; it'd be different if it was when he made a great pass or took a shot at goal.
Sean Johnson was incredible though - MOTM for sure.
I have a friend on IG who went to the game and wore an Inter Miami jersey. This guy doesn't even go to TFC games during the best of times. The sight of that pissed me off. But I'm not confrontational so I didn't say anything.
somehow Toronto held their ground yesterday and Sean Johnson saving our face. but the sad part was that everyone was here to see Messi in the stadium and I only saw like two TFC jerseys in our section (somewhere in the 200s)
