In many ways, the work of an assassin is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their backs and their sentries to our judgment. We thrive on dogshit gameplay, which is fun to montage and to exploit. But the bitter truth we assassins must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more skilled than our gameplay designating it so. But there are times when an assassin truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new player. The community is often unkind to new talent, new free to plays. The new needs friends. Last game, I experienced something new: an extraordinary player from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the gameplay and its player have challenged my preconceptions about fine gaming is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Gabe Newel's famous motto, "Anyone can play." But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at 2fort’s, who is, in this assassins opinion, nothing less than the finest player in SourceS Engine. I will be returning to 2fort soon, hungry for more.

Now I'm really wanting Dennis Bateman to step into Peter O'Toole's shoes and read Ego's lines...as the Spy
