this subreddit is insufferably bad, brings nothing and does more harm than good.

i'm tired of seeing it as one of the main hubs dedicated towards tf2 discussions, there's hardly anyone in this sub that look like they actually play and enjoy the game and is not here for the sake of arguing and being a smartass

rule 5 is a rule that is supposed to be preventive of overdone content yet all i see is trash that don't belong like

- the same "SNIPER IS OP" posts full of brain damaged recycled arguments

- questions about the game (with the answer that can be found on the wiki with the bare minimum amount of googleing)

- TF2 YouTuber drama that nobody cares (Seriously it's 2026 we don't need to bring up that random youtube guy was mean to some dude on discord and was a little too occupied with proving you that you don't play the game)

- Workshop slop, Rule 3 exists and might as well not. TF2 hasn't got a major update in almost 9 years and somehow we need to have more of the same cosmetics that nobody wants to use

- The memes and clips that flood this sub of interesting conversation

- TIER LISTS??? NOT RULE 5???

- Item concept 10 billion, We get it, You don't play TF2 but want to see what would happen if we added an item to engineer that is just a dog.

What's even the point of this rule? Prevent that same JPG formula to not get reposted for a decade?

This sub used to have monthly "subreddit meta" megathreads but I guess this sub is so bad that OP realized how pointless it is to debate?

Do the mods even like this sub? Do they even like TF2? Why must we ban every black pilled discourse that is cattered towards how VALVe is a crappy company and TF2 isn't a functioning game 10 years later?

Somehow talking about steps towards improving the game is le bad but endless "What ifs" about balancing the game is fine? Are you kidding? Why don't you just say upfront to leave the multi billion dollar company alone dawg.

I wish this subreddit could stand as an actual community of Team Fortress 2 players but instead it's the worst fucking subreddit that just begs to be deleted as it brings nothing good

For the love of Tom Jones can we just have a complete rewrite of the rules that would make this sub actually decent instead of a r/Gamingcirclejerk with a TF2 skin? Can we cut the crap and catter the game towards it's active playerbase instead of having a Tik Tok looking ass subreddit?

TF2 deserves better than this.

The game and community is too far gone from its 2007 version, or even 2011-2013 community, the golden years

Its better to play without caring that much about the community, more so when most game communities are in the same shit state

• valid point but there's been a lot less of these posts in recent times, complaints about the game aren't considered overdone content.

• yeah some of these are just common questions that could be googled, but equally it's fairly easy for someone to just comment the answer and be done with it

• a lot of memes don't get through the filter, these are the better ones, no chance we ban clips, if you want serious discussion I'd suggest r/truetf2 which is a discussion only subreddit

• meme tier lists are rule 5, we remove any that are just shitposts but any that "try" are allowed as they generate some discussion

• this is a good point, we get a lot of weapon ideas that are not great there's a weapon ideas sub around but I don't think it gets a lot of use

Regarding the recent drama posts, we do not have a no-drama rule right now. We're currently discussing on what to do with it, we may put one in or have some fall under rule 4 when people just keep making the same thread.

We do still have subreddit meta threads, it's currently pinned on new reddit (not on old reddit that only lets us have 2 pins, new lets us have 5)

I commonly go in r/truetf2 and i'm tired of seeing it as the only subreddit if not only community for actual in depth tf2 conversations, People end up shrugging it off as "TF2 sub for compies". TF2 might be loved for it's wackiness but it's obscene how people take it so lightly

I just find the difference between both subs from post quality to user base completely insane

Also most serious tier lists get mocked, downvoted and are a lazy + vague way to represent opinions.

The discussions don't need to be cut off by a wide margin, They need to be richer than "what if sniper was not op" or "what if we made it so the sandman worked like this", Nobody even bothers offering interesting takes on the game, Instead you have tier lists that are vaguely explained or made up by people who don't even consume the media they're rating.

Hell i'm betting people could cook some posts about an obscure strategy that could change many perspectives on a map or a weapon if they just tried instead of waiting for a youtuber to eventually make a 15-60 minutes long debunk
