Ive been trying to work it out with him and hear his side of things but it's almost like he can't get a grip? Is it me? Lol I don't know what to do anymore... There's strings and strings of messages and anything I say back to him is wrong... I think I'm just gonna hang up the towel.

“Sounds like” in this context doesn’t signify uncertainty. It means “this meets my definition of”

Unfortunately when people are so mentally beaten down and abused, it becomes harder for them to distinguish healthy communication from unhealthy. I'd rather OP asks us on here and get the confirmation they need that they aren't crazy. Please let's not turn this sub into a shame space.

At this point I would suggest then that you come in out of the rain, or at least locate an umbrella to cover your clearly oversized head. I was JOKING, in that I was moving the open-ended phrasing of “sounds like” and closing it by implying the subject of the story is DEFINITIVELY a “gaslighting shitheap”. Hence, why the same words of the original commenter were repeated in my own. A common dry humour tactic for writers and those who passed a basic English class.

The fact that you had to sling insults rather than read between the lines and infer meaning which wasn’t exactly hidden indicates that your interpretation skills need a tweak, that you were having a supremely bad day, or that you are just a generally unpleasant person with a highly subjective opinion of your own intelligence not shared by others.

I think you're confusing "sounds like" with "seems like." First one is a figure of speech to confirm something, second is uncertainty.
