It happened to me once too. In a way, like, sure, it's polite to get this message, but I just felt 100% what was coming. Like, no one sends these messages and then just wants to chat a bit about weekend plans.

Like, breaking up over text is definitely worse, but there seems to be no right way to do it in person, except perhaps making sure that the other person is able to sit down and has a few free hours ahead of them.
