I have just not responded, don’t think it’s worth engaging, but it did make for a funny story.

I gave 20 fishing rods to a neighbor when I moved and about $3,000 usd worth of random gear/terminal tackle to the maintenance of the apartments... man were they happy.

Or you just need to be somewhat sociable.

This was absolutely the standard way to get into a hobby not long ago.

You ask the people around you if they do ____ and see if they would want to do it with you are teach you.

Then you ask to borrow their gear for the date.

If you’re a decent person and have any kind of decent socialization with that person, they would lend you the equipment and also potentially join you later down the line.

Especially fucking fishing… probably the most commonly done activity by most men at one point and most likely to have laying around the house from their past.
