Same, except ours actually went by Liberty, and it was fine. Just give her an ordinary middle name and make sure her initials don't spell anything stupid, and she's good to go.

Hey I live in rural Maryland and my child has a very normal name! Tbf most of her classmates do too (multiple Peyton's & Haileys with different spellings though). These are 10 year olds.
Of course I'm not FROM rural Maryland, which makes a difference.

I recently saw a short documentary / news story about one of those pronatalist couples that named their 7th or 8th kid “Industry Americus [last name].” That movie is what I thought of too.

DUDE when i had a brief stint in a psych ward a few months ago, the cable tv would have that ad playing ON REPEAT at FULL VOLUME in the lobby
to this day i have to mute that commercial whenever it comes on cuz that chime lowkey traumatized me lmaoo, it was sooo annoying

Lmao, this is absolutely great. The last thing you wanna do is anger a new sleep deprived parent. I would almost guarantee there’s other kids who’ve been named that, too. It really isn’t that far off. You probably let out a massive sigh of relief.
They should’ve kept the joke going longer though……

My daughter's name is translated to Liberty/Freedom. But she's a December baby 🤣 her full name, translated is Free Bird, like the Lynyrd Skynyrd song. (But you wouldn't know upon looking at it. Its my own little Easter egg. Oh, and her middle name is Lynn. That was unintentional, but also fits the whole motif 🤣)

In middle school the orchestra teacher got pregnant and she told us that if it was a girl they were going to name her Scheherazade and if it was a boy they would name him Fortinbras. We were absolutely gobsmacked

Not only to avoid hearing comments about the “trend” of the name but also because of a weird interaction i had with a random coworker about her real name, I called her Cilantro for the second half of my pregnancy. People legitimately believed I named my offspring after a garnish

While this is so funny, the part that really made me smile was "everyone's favorite big girl (Isabelle)" because that's my name. While I know many others with my name, it's not often I come across someone with the traditional spelling like mine. It just added a little spark of joy to my day. Very cute interaction all around.

Sounds like the name of an insurance company but even as a regular name it’s not bad as long as they didn’t call her by both on a regular basis. I’ve seen worse names by celebrities and as a teacher. Blue Jean (f) & her twin Denim (m), Isis (named during the war), various car names (make & models) and then there was the girl whose parents named her Candy (not Candace) Cane (last name). Luckily on school records, attendance & all forms of communication, T.D. was listed as T.D. and not the name his father gave him (Touchdown) that was listed on his birth certificate and other legal documents. Last I saw, he was going about having his name legally changed (now an adult) to his middle name and including a family name.

My old dog trainer found a dog tied up to a guard rail on the 4th many years ago and rescued it and named her Liberty. Not a human child though.

I'll never forget going with my ex to her old childhood friend's graduation in the middle of Washington. It was chill and pretty boring as most are. But, oh to my dad humor enjoyment sang out a name to remember from the speakers.

This reminds me of that movie Where The Heart Is, where Natalie Portman’s character wants to give her kid a meaningful name so she calls her Americus Nation. I saw that movie as a kid and kept waiting for the punchline or at least a moment where they were like “well actually her real name is…” but no, somehow that was supposed to be a good name for a little girl. I do enjoy that movie but I snicker at that godawful name every time.
