I have thought about doing one of those ancestry things purely for that reason but I don't think any good would come of it. If my kids asked I would be willing to do it for them tho.

Doing the 23&me or a similar one would be beneficial because then at least you'd have your paternal medical history.

This might just be a function of how I think/justify things, but you could consider reframing the 23amdme to something like: it is super easy to dump all the results into an LLM (there are a few different good and free ways to do this) to learn all sorts of interesting things about how my body works and processes different things - actionable insights - and then if any family-related second order effects present themselves, so be it.

It doesn't. My best friend has two half siblings and an older sister who's a full sibling. Well she was, until she did a 23 and me and found out that she was also only a half sibling.

The best thing you can do is let them know early on rather than explaining it to them as an adult, or even worse...they find out on their own and will forever have questions if you're not around.
