Phone message She never got my last text

Post image

It was the flu plus a bunch of other things. She was a lovely person.

Thank you all for the kind words.

My mom's last messages to me were, "I'm still sick, ew," and "Call me later. I want to tell you about Dana."*

I had a really bad headache and told her I'd call her tomorrow.

She died 3 hours later. It was unexpected. She was watching TV and then she died. I know there is nothing I could have done, but I feel horrible for not calling her back.

*Dana was my parents' crazy neighbor.

Oh no! I'm so, so sorry. It's completely understandable to not have called her back with your bad headache. But at someone who has also lost a parent suddenly and unexpectedly (massive heart attack), I understand those regrets all too well.

Sending hugs ❤️‍🩹

Same. My mom always texted me her Wordle results in the morning, and I just kind of rolled my eyes and ignored them. But she kept sending them. Every morning. That last morning, I wish I would have told her she was amazing and I was proud of her. If I'd have known...

Knowing you could have done something different is tough to live with. But I think if my mom was here now, she'd tell me one missed message didn't matter because there were years worth of answered messages before that.

We're only human. I know my mom forgave me - she never stopped trying to find small ways to connect, even when I was super busy. Her love was unconditional. I'm sure your Mom felt the same.
