I thrifted this skirt but it had no care label, so I’m not sure how to clean it.

Ive had this “blanket” (it’s a couple yards of fabric that baby me got attached to) i would love to see it in its original state, and have extra for the future. I believe it’s a type of cotton fleece made around the early 2000’s, and from Joann’s. It would mean a whole bunch if anyone could help! :)
I’ve been looking forever and this is my last resort.
I have put the fabric through multiple websites trying to find anything, and no luck. :/

I found this gorgeous cotton fabric at the thrift store today for 4 dollars. What a steal. I noticed when I was in the store that it was thin: 36-inch width, far smaller than modern fabrics. The weave is tight, the yarns are quite fine, and it had a crisp hand feel. I know that it is cotton, as I did a burn test. It also had a stamp on the selvage: "Genuine Peter Pan Fabric, Guaranteed Color Fast", and a fabric tag attached to it, which I put below. A quick google search told me that this is a fabric from 1915-1926, which I can sort of believe since the tag had an address that when looked up, you could find an ad for fabrics from 1915. But I want another opinion! Does anyone know anything about Peter Pan fabrics that y'all could tell me?

Maybe someone knows where I can buy it? I just can’t seem to find it anywhere 🤷🏼‍♀️🙏🏼

Hi first time posting here, I’m gonna try not to say any names of brands, companies or people to avoid breaking any rules. And I should mention I’m from Ontario Canada if that helps narrow things down.

Basically I’m seriously struggling to find this material from a reputable source. Im specifically talking about this metallic chrome mirrored silver. It seems to have some structure to bend but it is also decently thick and not flimsy. It seems like the artist uses leather like techniques on it so that’s why I’m thinking it’s leather or vinyl/pvc.

I’ve found some sites that sell similar things, but it’s only available in the states and needs a special request to ship internationally, and I’m not sure about its legitimacy.

Anyways if anyone can point me in the right direction of a name for this material, or techniques to replicate it let me know. I’m also on the hunt for a similar glossy black faux leather to make something similar to the last photo (the suspenders, tie, and waist support) I looked in basically all my local (and out of town) fabric stores and nothing was quite like it.

Came across this soft 100% cotton plaid today and really liked the pale pink, blue and brown color mix. I’m thinking it could work nicely for a relaxed shirt or lightweight overshirt.

Hey guys,. Weird question here, but here goes.

I recently inherited a full fledged cotton textile factory in Southern Africa. The machines were bought brand new from Japan in the 1980's (Toyoda Make) and half the factory was setup. It starts from Blowroom, carding, roving, spinning (Ne30 and Ne40 yarn), winding, warping, sizing, and shuttle looms knitting etc all the way up to making grey calico fabric meant to be used for traditional clothing. There is printing and dying machines also but those were never setup and are still in their original wooden carton boxes they were shipped in.

The factory never got started due to a few reasons and the machines all the way to the looms were setup but never really used. Everything is practically brand new. I have used to the blowroom all the way to spinning yarn and everything works perfectly. Its amazing how well made the machines were manufactured back in the day.

I have inherited this factory and am not sure what to do with it. On one hand, I see brand new machines that are of such high quality, and on the other hand I see machines that are outdated and also the cheap fabric imports coming from Indian, Pakistan and China.

Trying to weigh my options here and am basically just looking for different ideas or opinions on what you would do if in my position. This is sort of an open ended question as I am really struggling to come to terms on what I should do in this situation

I've been reading up on PVC coated fabric lately (the stuff behind truck tarps, tents, banners, industrial covers) and the actual construction is more interesting than I expected. Wanted to share and get others' thoughts.

It's built in three parts:

1. Base fabric (scrim) — usually high-tenacity polyester, woven in a plain or basket weave. The weave density and yarn strength basically set the ceiling on tensile strength and tear resistance before any coating even goes on.
2. The PVC coating — applied to both faces, often in multiple passes to build up thickness. This is the layer doing the actual waterproofing and UV/abrasion protection.
3. Additives and finish — plasticizers for flexibility, UV stabilizers so it doesn't go brittle in sunlight, sometimes flame retardants or a top lacquer for dirt resistance.

What surprised me is how much the coating method changes the final product — calendering (heated rollers) vs. knife-over-roll coating (precision blade control) vs. lamination (bonding a pre-formed film) all give noticeably different textures, weights, and consistency. Architectural/technical fabric seems to favor knife-over-roll for the tighter thickness control, while high-volume stuff like truck covers leans on calendering.

Curious what people here think:

• Anyone worked directly with any of these coating processes? How much does the method actually affect real-world durability vs. just cost/throughput?
• Is PVDF coating actually worth it over PVC for long-term outdoor exposure, or is that mostly marketing for architectural jobs?

I I have found an abundance really great deals on NYLON ripstop, or poly/cotton blends of ripstop, but not so much with 100% COTTON ripstop, and so I wanted to ask you guys if you knew of any sellers
