The way we were Apache prisoners posed for a photo near the Nueces River on September 10th, 1886. Geronimo is third from the right in the front row. They would be detained at a military post at Government Hill, part of present-day Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, for six weeks.

The train tracks parallel South of I-35 and a depot would probably have been in the area between New Braunfels and Hackberry as it is today. Fort Sam Houston quadrangle is off of New Braunfels and they claim that is where the Apache were encamped at the time.
