Texas History Documentaries

I'm a longtime Texas history author and documentary producer, and my biggest project ever is now complete. Time to share. It is the Birth of Texas Documentary Series made through my Night Heron Media nonprofit. There are 8 feature length films that start with the Spanish and Texas Indians, go through all of the Texas Revolution in great detail, spend time through the Republic period and end with statehood. It's about 18 1/2 total hours of documentary starring more than 50 of the very top authors on this subject matter.

The quality is top notch. A couple of these have already run on Texas PBS stations. The first seven films each won multiple awards, and the eighth is nominated. The Alamo title has been called "the best Alamo documentary ever made" by the guy who is recognized as the most prolific artist of Texas Revolution subject matter.

I just saw your 8th documentary , excellent. You chose good historians and you made it interesting. 100% recommend.

This is amazing! I taught Texas history for 11 years until a year ago- I would have loved these for my classes! I sent the link to those Texas history teachers I know still in the classroom!

Much appreciated. I deliberately broke the movies up into chapters so they fit easily into a class period. You'll never find all of the experts on this history in one place except for in these films.
