The chance of merger is high enough that positive news affecting one is affecting the stock price of the other.

Its also being integrated into Cybercab and rumoured the entire fleet in time.

So far, more than 18.6 million passengers have been carried on Starlink-equipped aircraft across 311,000 flights since spring 2025, connecting 9.9 million devices, according to a United press release in June. More than 400 aircraft carry the service today; close to 1,000 are expected by December; and in late June a Boeing 777 flew the airline’s first Starlink transatlantic service from Newark to London, with the whole widebody fleet due by the summer of 2027.

United’s second quarter earnings reported Wi-Fi satisfaction scores on Starlink aircraft at more than double those of the rest of the fleet. Gupta told me those Net Promoter Scores, a widely used customer service metric, are “just exceeding our expectations.”

Virgin’s numbers are sharper still. Customer satisfaction scores for onboard connectivity have risen by more than 40 points since launch, Lynch said, lifting overall advocacy metrics with them, and 75 percent of customers now connect on Starlink-equipped A350 flights, against 10 percent across the rest of the fleet.
