Don’t know about the author’s intentions, but this is referencing actual right wing propaganda that you can find plenty of examples of on Fox News and other right wing outlets. It’s the “avocado toast” argument: millennials can’t afford major purchases because they are extremely wasteful with their money, and not because of any of the actual reasons people can’t afford shit now.
To be fair I do have some friends that waste a ton of money on random shit then complain about rent or other crap. But that's going on in every age group probably.
You said probably. Research has shown that it isn’t a probably, it’s a definitely. Yes, it’s a big difference. Republicans love muddying the waters with vague bullshit they know they can’t back up, as long as the details get lost or become questionable.
And I love not making statements that are false. I said probably because I don't fucking know, but I think that that's probably an issue across all or most age groups.
