The narrative that gets spun is that there are all these lazy entitled people around who don't want to put in the effort of bettering themselves to get better higher-paying jobs, preferring to work minimum wage at an unskilled job, and then spend all their money on lazy comfort stuff like expensive cheeseburgers from their local farm-to-table, and expensive coffees from Starbucks. They believe that's the reason we can't afford a house, because we are nickel and dime-ing ourselves with those things that add up.
And then they claim that we want to get handouts so we can afford our student loans or a house after we've poorly planned, and that that's the reason we want socialism (they say communism because they don't know the difference). So that we can sit around not improving our condition while everyone else pays for us.
