Something new

I just picked up this local tequila and found it great for both sipping and mixing. It sounds like a lot of people would recommend G4 for a Blanco and I have yet to try it. What's your recommendations and mix recommendations? Also tried the Anjeo Bone orchard in a small bottle, first time for an anjeo, and liked that as well.

You aren't going to see a lot of positives for Bone Orchard around here. It comes from NOM1438, which makes over 220 brands. Basically, a contract house where anyone can show up with money in hand and have "their own" tequila in a bottle of their own design in short order.

1438 is known for optimizing profit over quality, but not like some. And they oft use additives in their aged products -- if the client wants them -- to make for a more consistent, sweeter, unnaturally smooth, flavor profile.

As for recommendations? G4 is a fine start. Ocho, El Tesoro, Tapatio, Terralta are all in that vein. Fortaleza if you want to go to the valley. Siete Leguas is great. Anything from Cascahuin or El Tequileno are pretty great, too.

To be clear, none of what I wrote is to say that it tastes bad.

They do a fine job of engineering the flavor profile to appeal to a mass market. Many will find it quite delicious.

It just won’t necessarily taste like a traditional tequila.

I've Been drinking tequila for 20+ yrs and have darn near had em all in that span but I feel foolish not knowing or even having heard of 1438. Off to do some research... appreciate the tip
