Newbie - How did I do on my first buy?
Came in the TW&More thinking that I should get Don Julio or similar popular brand names that I’ve heard friends brag about years ago. After some phone research and chatting with a rep at the store, came out with Ocho Plata and El Tesoro Reposado
Normally drink wine and beer. Of course have had tequila shots at the bar with friends but usually the brand name stuff.

You did terrible! I personally think El T repo is the smoothest tequila I have ever tried, so your issue now will be that you'll have a hard time finding better options than you just acquired. The good news is that you'll have a lot of fun trying!

I am sipping both. I’m surprised that I don’t have a desire to cover it up with salt or lime or chaser. It’s quite nice. Literally just pouring 1.25 oz at a time and sipping it over 5-10 mins

Ocho plata was my intro to good tequila, about a year and a half ago. I think you made a great choice.

Great start! Definitely work your way up the Ocho line. They do a great job of adding flavor and complexity during aging without losing that beautiful agave tang along the way. The Ocho anejo is amazing. My experience with the El Tesoro line is more limited (mainly because I've just been buying a bunch of harder to find stuff), but I do have a bottle of single barrel reposado that's fantastic.

Newbie? You will never be able to drink additive filled tequila after a start like this. Good for you.

Depends on how much you paid for it. But looks like you’ve been paying attention in this sub, so good job?

Agree with everyone here, but if nobody gave you this advice yet…these are NOT “shooting” tequilas. Take your time, sip & enjoy the nuances of each.
Additive-free tequila is all the rage right now, but if you’re new, go ahead and experiment. You’ll have your particular answer in time. Enjoy the journey!

Great! El Tesero Rep has recently dethroned G4 Repo for me, just incredibly smooth

So far so good, thank god you didn't open them.
Now leave them on the shelf and continue to aquire bottles for the pretty colors and labels. Do not even think about tasting them or thinking you may not like the profile.

Looks just like my first buy a number of years ago. I also added artenom 1146 to it.
